Hello All,
We just returned from a magical 1000 mile drive and 1 week stay (Nov. 15-23) at AKV with DH (36), DD (5 y.o.) and DS (7 months). Rather than give you all the detail, I wanted to give everyone a quick summary and findings of our trip.
1. AKV is awesome! Great theming, even better smells! Pool is great. Jambo House is a little bit of a walk but not that bad.
2. DVC point rentals is the best kept secret in disney. Get a deluxe for the price of a moderate! But like I said it is a well kept secret...only tell your best friends.
3. Week before thanksgiving rocks! Crowds were low and touring easy. Week of thanksgiving...different story.
4. Driving to the World isn't that bad. We stayed overnight one night on the way and straight thru on the way home. Keep the kids entertained or sleeping and enjoy the view!
5. Dinosaur is an intense ride!!! Perhaps the most intense in Disney!
6. Kids of any age will love Disney. Our 7 month old son loved the Osbourne light display. Kicking, cooing, and smiling! Don't fall for the "I want to take my kids when they will remember it" stuff. Recognize and respect your kids schedules and you can make magical memories rather than excuses!
7. Tired of the parks? Try resort hopping. We loved seeing the resorts and Christmas decorations.
8. Disney food is really good! Didn't have a bad meal all week...highlights were Boma and Trails End.
9. There is just too much to do in Disney! A week is not long enough.
Again, just a quick summary, if anyone wants more detail, let me know!!
