hi everyone :flower3:

looks like we will not be able to make use of our points next year. :sad2:

has anyone had much success renting points recently?

If so, did you try to rent to someone from the UK or does it not matter?

Did you have a contract or just trust your renter?

It will be my first time renting so any help would be appreciated. :thumbsup2

Hi Wendy,

Are you not able to bank the points?

I rented a few points a while ago. I put them up on the rental board here.
Be prepared for people to ask for availability for a short time ahead. It seems that the Americans only think of renting a couple of months in advance.

I did end up with a lovely renter, we used a copy of a contract that is up on the DVC boards here. She only wanted a couple of nights, so had no problem with paying the whole amount through paypal as soon as we had a confirmed reservation.

You will need the name and address details of anyone you make a reservation for, as well as back up choices for dates and hotels.

Hope this helps a bit, any questions I will try my best to help.

thank you :thumbsup2

I could bank the points....

I'm not sure what to do really at the moment.

I have a feb use year so i have a little while before i have to decide :confused3

With a February use year don't you have to bank by the end of October?

Crabbie1, (Alyson) tried to PM you but it says that you are not able to receive...

Hi Wendy,

So you've got a while to think about what to do with them then.:thumbsup2

I am about to go on a trip to Disneyland Paris with a whole years worth of points because we couldn't use them for WDW. It is not exactly a good use of points, but we are staying at the Disneyland Hotel, which we wouldn't pay to do, for my eldest DDs 18th birthday.

I don't know why Crabbie1 couldn't PM me? I haven't had any problems with receiving them before.:confused3

sid, sorry - I realise my last post made no sense...

I meant that crabbie1 had sent me a PM and that I couldn't get one back to her :confused3

I'm having one of those days where nothing I type seems to come out right :rotfl:

I thought about disneyland paris as this may be more achievable but we are saving for a deposit on a house so any holiday next year will stretch us :sad2:

I have rented my points out a few times. People on here tend to message me from time to time to find out if I have any available. I have rented to the same renter twice as well. All from the uk. I have never found it a problem.

I dont know whats wromg with my pm box sorry. Will pm my email.
Hi sue havent seen you post for a while mind your ur treehouse trippie was excellent. Superb accomodation.

We have rented points twice - we placed an ad on DIS - and both times they went to people from the USA. we received payment via Paypal and used the contract that is on the DIS site. If i had to sell points in the future this would be my first port of call.

If possible, it's probably easier to transfer points rather than rent.

I did this earlier in the year to a US member, and the whole thing was very easy. There has to be an element of trust of course, but once this is established, it all worked smoothly.

I called DVC and transferred my points to the other members account, sent the member the 'transfer number". Once they checked that the points were in their account, I received payment immediately by paypal. Maybe I could have asked for a deposit/payment on account, but the member had good credentials, and I just went ahead.

Really easy, and at $10 per point, the money was really useful. :thumbsup2

For me, it's a far better option than just 'using up' points on expensive Disney alternatives. $1500 goes a lot further than 150 points at DLP!

This is exactly my thought :)

The money will come in really handy and if i do decide to get to DLP I can probably get a deal for a lot less!

I have rented out points to some people before without issue. I ensure that a contract be signed to protect yourself and the renter.

I have rented a small amount of points on a few occassions no problem. I have 150 Beach Club points coming on line December 1st so hoping for success again.

Hey there,

We have successfully rented and transferred through the Rent\Trade forum a number of times without any problems - mosty to U.S. DISboard members. If renting, you may have to call MS a couple of times to find availability etc, but that aside, it has worked really well for us

A.
