Success rate for Jedi training sign-up

My immediate family has zero interest in this, so I never bothered looking into it, but now I'm going through old posts trying to find out for my nephew. This will be his first (and possibly last) trip. Is it as bad as people running for A&E used to be/still is? My sister is not going to run anywhere, but she will head straight there at rope drop. I'm just wondering if she has a fifty fifty chance or less to get him in. I'm not sure how many shows there are.

Arrive at DHS at least 30 minutes before the posted "opening time."
As soon as they start letting guests into the park...
Walk directly to "Sounds Dangerous" building (WITH the child who's going to participate.)
Good chance for a signup.

We were there for star wars weekend and a non-star wars weekend day this past June. We had no problems signing up for both days. It was the first place we went once entering the park (and we were not there before park opening-just couldn't get out of the hotel quickly). We just had to be willing to stand in line to sign up. If you are fairly open for times, you should have no problems.

To add - after you get the child signed up, the child and a parent/guardian will need to come back for "instructions". This is before the training so you will need to schedule time before the training session to get that done. Also, only ONE parent/guardian needs to be with the child so you can do what we did when our grandson did it (he was so small, the trainer called him a hobbit). We had his parents do the introduction thing with him and then took our granddaughter over to the performance area and got a place to watch. Then my son and daughter-in-law were able to join us after our grandson was taken to his training. And yes, I did let people know around us that we were expecting the parents of a future Jedi to join us so no one was bothered. In fact, those people around us were cheering on our grandson the entire time!

In July, we planned this for a Saturday EMH morning. We were at the turnstiles approx. 20-30 minutes prior to park opening. DD9 and I walked (fast paced) directly to the Sign Up area (see great map above!). DH followed behind us (he was carrying our backpack). We were traveling with two other families and were separated in the crowd but all got to the sign up location at the same time. It didn't seem like a lot of families were headed this way, most went to Toy Story & TOT. The sign up location is inside. We were greeted by a CM, who asked DD several questions. Once done, we got in line - with one family ahead of us waiting to register. There were three tall tables with one CM at each registering other families. Once DD was registered, we were given our choice of time/shows. We picked the first show at 9:30 as we had to work around fast passes & dining reservations.

At 9:00 we checked in for the show. The kids were given their instructions, "borrowed" a Jedi Robe and headed to the stage area for the show. The Jedi Master was awesome - DD & her friends loved it. There is a photopass photographer there taking pictures. Also at the end of the training, each Jedi received a certificate from the Jedi Master.

One negative - the stage & viewing area is in full sun. Plan accordingly if your child gets too hot too quickly. DD was very hot after the show. Backlot Express was open (not to serve food) and the AC was pumping COLD air.

This was DD first time - and she loved it!! It was a fun show and people walking by cheer on the kids. This is a must for our next trip!

Reasonable quick paced walking should be fine. We have never had a problem getting a spot. Lots of people go to TSM first.

DNiece9 and I were there in early June. We didn't even try on Saturday which was a Star Wars weekend. I had planned another DHS day on Tuesday. We got to the park about 9:15 and headed straight for signup. We waited in line for 30-45 minutes and DN ended up on the standby list. We went back around noon and she got right in. It was hot and sunny and they gave the kids a small cup of water before they went on stage.

So excited to see this now . My daughters at an age I think she'll enjoy the movie so am now going to let her watch it to see if she might want to join my nephew in Jedi training!

We went last October and our 8 year old was dying to do the Jedi Academy. We got to the park about 30 minutes before opening, found the shortest line and got into it. Once they let you in, you need to basically walk as fast as you can straight towards the sign up area (map above). You MUST have the child/children with you when you get in line. If they are not with you they will not let you sign up. We were able to get our son into the training academy and it was AMAZING!!! He still talks about it a year later. Best of luck!
