Success at 7 month switch!!!!!

Just got off the phone with great CM at MS and switched 1bdroom OKW to AKL SV for 12/26-12/30/2010! I have tried for the past 3 xmas weeks to switch at 7 months(we love OKW but wanted to try AKL) and was not able to do so even waitlisted. I think I was successful because it did not include NYE as it has in the past. either way, I am so excited!!! We love to visit AKL and now will be staying there for the first time. We are in Jambo House. Now if December 26th would just get here! HHI in June 6-10 will just have to do I guess.

It's always great to be able to share the excitement of scoring a particular reservation. Be sure to visit the Kidani pool too. I really prefer that one to Jambo, better slide and great CMs for pool games in the afternoon. Of course that's if December isn't too chilly for swimming.

I'm glad you were able to get into AKV. We also enjoy visiting that resort even when we are staying at another one. I love viewing the animals, and I like some particular things about Jambo, including the location and size of the whirlpools at the pool and the convenience of having Mara right there.

Thanks we will visit, but probable not swim..we have been to wdw for the past 4 xmas weeks and never had swimming weather(for me anyway, others yes). Last year was close on NYE day. I just an looking forward to exploring the resort and se the animals from our room...DH just loves the nature aspect.

I switched one night at BC 12/25 to match my other reservation at VWL that was from 12/19 to 12/25. Now I got all 7 nights in one place, but I was worried that I might lose the one night while changing it. I have heard some horror stories who try to change and when they cancel the one room, the other one is gone

I had a very efficient CM who was very knowledgable and kept me aware of every step "Here is your cancellation #, I am now waiting for processing of AKL reservation," etc. He also used the wait to go over all the essential about cancellation 30 days...so on. I have never had an issue with anyone at MS being anything but proficient and polite, so I did not even think I would loose the reservation when I changed...I know a recent post had that experience, but I learned to not assume the worst, but listen and be aware.

Congrats!!! We did this last year so we could try AKV, we booked SSR at 11 months and switched to AKV Kidani Village (unfortunately not for the Savannah view).

I know everyone has their own opinion, but we absolutely loved AKV. We have thought about getting a contract at AKV, but with the economy it has not been the right time for us. One good thing is that we again tried at the 7 month window for our vacation this October and again were successful in switching to AKV. Made us very happy!!

I wonder if I should give them a call and see if I can switch from my 5 night stay (11/30 - 12/5) from a standard view to a Savanah View.

I was able to change from our BWV 1BR to Jambo house 1BR today too for 12/26-1/2. It will be nice to try a new vacation resort.

Nice to see others were successful also. I'm excited about trying AKLV. I have stayed at BCV many times and love it, stayed at BWV once and have no desire to do so again. OKW is home resort and can't count how many wonderful stays there since we joined in 1994(at least once/yr many times twice). Would like to try VWL, but we have been going xmas week for the past 5 years and that's almost an impossibility at 7 months...maybe if we change time of year.

Thanks for giving me some hope for switching to BWV or BCV for our Dec. 1-9 trip! We like SSR but with having my parents there with us and Dad having some issues with walking we are really hoping to be close to Epcot!

Congrats! We love AKL, stayed there last April 09 and would love to stay there again sometime!

Did you try and had to waitlist? You are already in the 7 month window (mine was 5/26 for 12/26 arrival).

Yes, DH and I have both called and EVERYTHING is full for Dec. 1-9! We check everyday. We are waitlisted for BWV and BCV! I called right at 7 month and he called a few days later to check on something else. There's always hope. We know people who have gotten in at that time for BWV so we are hopeful!

We are going Christmas week also and got a partial success for a 7 month switch. I had booked at 11 months a BWV BW view room but wanted to try for BLT. Well I got the first four days of my stay switched to BLT and the last four I'm on the waitlist. I also have another waitlist for a MK view at BLT so whichever comes up first (if at all) we'll take. If not we've switched resorts before mid-stay and did not mind so we'll have BLT for the half and BWV for the second half which will also be cool. But really hoping for the BLT stay for the whole time.
