not sure if this is the right place but ( hoping for a reply before friday lol)

Can i use ricotta cheese as a substitute for marscapone cheese? Anyone have a good dessert recipe that isn't too expensive or time consuming?

TIA :0)

If you're not used to working with either cheese, just use the recipe as it is. Though, if you have a bunch of ricotta, just make cannolis or something.

Comparatively, your subbing cottage cheese for cream cheese. This has a couple of impacts the most noticeable will be texture.

yeah i just have a lot of ricotta to use up. I'm using some in lasagna and i'm gonna make ricotta cookies. But there will still be some left over. We just love tira misu and thought if i could make the substitution i would. But it isn't a big deal lol. I might just try some cannoli... we like them too lol.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I appreciate your ideas and suggestions.

If you must substitute ricotta for mascarpone, drain the ricotta thoroughly in a sieve and then put it through a food processor/blender, finally increase the fat content by adding whipping cream or full fat cream cheese to it. This might work--but, might not. Just a straight substitution won't work.
