submersible missing near the Titanic

My only comments on this whole thing right now is I’m so sick and tired of all the online hate towards billionaires. Yes, I guess they could’ve spent the money for this trip and feeding the poor etc. but some of these people are making it out like billionaires of the most evil people on earth. And make no contribution to society. Sure there’s some bad apples out there like with everything but when I think of the ALDI family, for example, one the world’s richest families. They make groceries affordable and as an employer they’re very darn good have always been. And actually pay very well.
i don't understand the demonization of anyone who has more expendable resources than others. Some societies are paid by what they need. I don't want to live in that world.

The day we no longer care about our fellow human beings enough to offer aid in a time of need? We are done. The judgy behavior and distain towards those deemed unworthy is despicable. The lack of compassion is deeply concerning and sad. IMO

The story served its purpose as a nice distraction.

i don't know why one news story takes precedence over another except to the extent that they catch the public's interest and that garners ratings. this was a unique (hopefully) situation with a time stamp on the outcome so i suspect that heightened interest. that said-i have wondered during the titan coverage if it had'nt been occuring and monopolizing the national coverage if absent it occuring there would'nt have been an abundance of national attention on one of our local tragedies of this past week-an army specialist, purportedly high on mushrooms engaging in a mass shooting at a music festival (2 killed and several wounded). it seemes ripe for coverage between the debate on guns as well as over a dozen states pursing the legalization of psychedelic mushrooms this year.

Sounds like you actually DO know!

The implosion sound was picked up by the Navy and further actions took place as they should have r.e. the notifications. IMO there was very little reason to believe that the vessel was still able to support life and yet a multi national effort was launched for a possible rescue.

IMO, the effort involved resulted in a tremendous response by all and an event that would not have taken place if lives were not at risk. KUDOS to all for their actions.

I’m seeing the migrant story. It’s written in a non bias way with no agenda.
Maybe this is more of a “you” perspective than a media one.

Not feeling any “agenda being rammed down my throat “.
But I am completely tired of people using that worn out, stupid phrase. Maybe try a different news source if yours has you so upset,
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Believe it or not, there was a time when most business owners/CEO's prided themselves not only on their success, but the "success" of the people working for them -this is rare today. Combine that, with the grossly widening gap between Executive salaries and those of the average worker ....and you have the resentment you see today. Not many people actually resent success, they detest gluttony. A billionaire donating a million to charity is like a person with $100,000 donating $100 ...sorry for not being impressed
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Of course it wasn’t planned, but you can give as little or as much attention as you want to any story. Tragic things happen everyday that we never hear about. Big things happen that are intentionally not talked about. The Magic of the media.
Yup. The joys of news. Fit everything into a 22 minute (if not less) time slot.

It’s b/c most have that amount of expendable resources b/c they made it on the backs of others who were not equally compensated. I’m not saying that anyone deserves this fate. I’m just saying that’s why so many ppl have this disdain.

Or the terrible medical care that our veterans get from the VA.

I don’t see that shooting being much of an argument against legalization of mushrooms though considering we are okay with thousands of alcohol related deaths per year. We either allow people to consumer mind altering substances or we don’t. Picking and choosing doesn’t make any sense until we get into the highly addictive substances.

eh-the talking heads can wrangle anything into some kind of pro or con argument if so inclined. i just figured it was ripe for coverage since the other two local(ish) stories to me that have been feeding the national media for months going on years are in a quiet phase (lori vallow has been convicted, bryan kohberger case is still largly under wraps information wise).

Anybody that takes time or a dime and donates it to anybody in need is a wonderful person. 🥰. But some put more rules on those that are able to donate more than a dime. It’s sad. All efforts matter.
I know people that donate money to certain causes. They're still horrible people 99.9% of their lives. Sorry -I could care less what they gave to charities. There are plenty of ways to help others without putting your hands in your pocket. I'm sure you aren't saying this -but it sounds like a suggestion that if Charles Manson made a donation(which I'm sure he did at some point), he's now a good person. I disagree......
