submarine excursion

We are thinking about taking the Atlantis submarine exursion in Cozemel. I am looking for some reviews of this excursion.

although I haven't done this in Cozumel, I did this in Georgetown. I thought it well worth the money, and my family truly enjoyed this excursion, and thought it one of the big highlights of our trip! Just remember it is less expensive if you book it on your own rather than going through DCL.

We did the Atlantis excursion last May and enjoyed it. We do not snorkle or dive so this was a great chance to see underwater sights. We went down to around 120 feet and sailed(?) along the edge of the wall. Even saw a diver as we were on our way down. Thought this one was a bit better than the one in St Thomas, even though we enjoyed it too.

I have done this excursion in St. Thomas and Cozumel. Cozumel was the best dive and we saw the most fish, the dive is in a national marine park. I was disappointed in the dive at St. Thomas; we saw only a few fish and didn't go as deep. In Cozumel you go deep and will see huge schools of fish, large coral formations and the sea wall. My daughter had just finished studying about the ocean, sponges and coral and she loved the dive in Cozumel. She too was disappointed at St. Thomas. Kathy

We did it and really enjoyed it. They actually took up 120 feet down. It was beautiful. To be honest, I didn't want to do it (made me nervous being down under water so far), but once we were down I forgot my fears and really enjoyed the views.

We'll also be on the 1/18/03 Western and were thinking of trying the submarine excursion. You must be right up the street if you are in Clarksville! I work on Rt 108. Small world huh!

You can see my trip report for more details, but I give a no vote for this excursion. We saw more snorkeling than we did on the sub dive. But, if you aren't going to otherwise go under the water, it is a good opportunity to see what's down there. Also, in my report I said that in truth you probably couldn't have talked me out of it because I had never been on a submarine and I wanted to dive. Now, it's "been there, done that" and "would not do it again".

I see there is the regular Atlantis Submarine that goes down to 100ft and then there is also one that goes down to 800ft, !!!!! Atlantis Deep Explorer

Has anyone does this one ??? What is down at 800ft? Must be incredible, can't even imagine...I thought only scientists and marine explorers ever got to go that deep...this is one for my "to do" list

Small World, indeed! Are you planning to do the excursion on Grand Cayman or Cozumel. We'll have to do the afternoon excursion time in Grand Cayman since we have an island tour in the morning.

We're not sure...we're waiting till after the holiday to talk with our friends that are joining us. Everyone says wonderful things about Captain Marvin so who knows. Try to stay warm and dry...looks like winter weather is once again on it's way!

I have seen the little two seater in Georgetown, and boy is it ever small! I don't think I could even fit in that thing, let alone having another person and the pilot crammed into it!
