I have to admit, my luggage is a mishmosh of mismatched pieces. It is really not attractive and I need new so... what better time than before my Disney trip. Can anyone tell me the best place to get luggage at a fair price that is still "good". I just don't $400 or so to buy American Tourister or Bill Blass. I have found a five piece set for $89.99 + s&h on eBay made by Biscayne. I am not familiar with this company, what is your opinion? I bid a lot on eBay ad I am usually happy but this is one thing I don't want to mess up. Thank you for any and all help.

I don't know if you have Value City or Big lots near you, but they will sometimes have nice luggage for less. We got a 4 pi American Tourister set for $34.00 (marked down at Target). We got a Samsonite at the Samsonite outlet store about 10 years ago, still in great shape...but we needed a larger one. My girlfriend got some Samsonite at the Goodwill store, it looked brand new.

I had to fly to Chicago on business in June (have not flown for 3 years!) and did not want to check bags. I got an incredible bargain at Target--a Pilot Case for $10.00! It holds a ton and fits easily in the overhead. A nice option for your carry-on piece.

I have bought several luggage pieces from Target, and have had good luck with them. One set of smaller suitcases on wheels, I got the day after Thanksgiving at a real steal. Then a couple of years ago DH and I needed some large cases for a long trip to Las Vegas, and I got two huge suitcases that have the expansion strip and nice straps for ($20 each) $40 on clearance. They have made it through several plane trips each, and are still in good shape. I figure if they tore up tomorrow, I would still have gotten my money out of them.

not too long ago. I wanted a middle-of-the-road set: not $400 for one piece even though I know it would last me a lifetime. But not the "5 pieces for $50" either. My husband travels a lot so we bought him a nice piece so it will hold up. The kids and I only need stuff once a year or so for a big trip and other than that just for overnighters. I asked around and also knew of an article evaluating luggage in Reader's Digest. It rated Costco's brand a best value. JCPenney's also rated highly. I ended up finding a 5-piece set of JCP on sale (60% off!) and I bought it. If you want the upright, rolling kind, make sure the wheel base is of good quality and that the frame doesn't bend too easily. The soft-sided stuff should have a tight weave to it.

Evaluate how much you travel and invest accordingly. Good luck!

Ricardo makes nice sturdy luggage that's reasonably priced. Around here they have it at Kohl's and I think some of the other department stores too. I have a bunch of different-sized pieces, all the big ones have nice durable wheels and have stood up for lots of trips through the baggage claim. Sometimes they have deals where you can get a free toiletry bag or something when you buy one of the bigger bags - I have two of the toiletry bags and they're great too.

Mine are bright red, which also makes them a lot easier to find in the sea of black, navy, and hunter green coming off the plane. :p

I would shop at Marshell's for luggage. Because they have all the name brand luggage at discounts prices. Also I would check Wal-Mart because they have American Toursiter luggage.

Target has a 3 piece luggage set on sale for 59.99 on sale today. Check target.com.

I have a fairly expensive set of American Tourister luggage that was given to me as a gift several years ago. Looked nice when it was new, but the cloth is now dirty and torn from rough handling during flights.

DH and I purchased low cost Samsonite hard-shell luggage a few years ago. Cost about $89 each for two large pieces. Nothing fancy about them, but expect we'll be using them for years to come. (When one wheel came off, we took the luggage back to Samsonite. They promptly fixed the wheel and shipped the luggage back to our home at no cost.) Also, they are royal blue, which makes them great to spot on a carousel.

My mom is still using her hard shell luggage she received as a high school graduation gift about 30 years ago!

My advice, pretty luggage isn't necessarily going to last the longest. Also, if you get black luggage, you'll be sorting through everyone else's to find yours.

I recently bought a couple of sets at Wilson leather outlet. One for me and one for my Mom. I paid $80.00 for a 4 piece set. They are not leather, just soft sided.

I also bought some mismatched pieces for around $10.00 ea. They matched each other, so they make a nice set.

I agree with the post that mentioned Marshall's. I was there the other night, and saw lots of luggage.

definately check kohls, their stuff is always on sale. i got a huge upright for dh for $40! perfect for a week long trip!

i also got a big upright for myself at big lots, again it was $40, and it's RED! like someone said, easy to pick off the conveyor! ;)

I went to Target the other day...just looking, and I bought! Of course. The only problem is, they only had the typical colors, what can I do to make blue luggage stand out so I can find it among the sea of all the other blue bags??? I did get a nice five piece set for about 69, and I chose one that is popular there so I can add pieces if I want. Thank you so much for your help!

My sister used bright pink fabric paint along the edges of hers. It doesn't look as bad as it sounds and it certainly stands out. I have bright Mickey head shaped luggage tags that we can usually spot.

OOOHHH ceecee that sounds neat! where did you find your tags, my daughter would love those!! Thank you for the help!!
