People at my office prounce this dish (General Tso's Chicken) "General CHOW"...I thought it was pronounced "general so". Anyone?

As to the question--the pronounciation is General 'so'

I've only ever heard it pronounced like tao - like ta-ow (like you got a boo-boo)

I've also seen it written General Tao on a few menus

Well my friend in High school called it General T-so's. I call it General Chow's, DH calls it General So's and DMIL calls it General's chicken.
