Stupid Weather!

After several times trying I finally was able to get a 2BR at BWV for the first week in June, and now I need to CANCEL! Stupid weather is to blame! After two blizzards and today an ice storm, all of the snow days the school had to use are gone and now school is being extended into that first week. I will try for the third week now, but I highly doubt I will get anything at BWV. Good thing we love OKW and SSR.

I hope you get what you want. My guess is that you're still out far enough that a waitlist will come through. It's more points now though, isn't it...the end of June as opposed to the beginning.

Sorry to hear about an ice storm...those are particularly scary to me. Do you often lose electricity?

Thanks Bobbi. Yes it is more points, but at least I have plenty so this year is not an issue. The only bad thing is the crowds get noticeably bigger the second week and on in June. I'll try to waitlist, but it would be for 6 days and that rarely comes through.

As far as the ice storm, where we are at we rarely ever lose electricity, however several places around the area have. We just can't leave the house because we are on the end of a dead-end road and we have a slight incline. When it's icy, there's no way we can get up it! So I just work from home and check the DIS now and then!

School was extended here last June because of snow days during the year. The kids really did nothing in school on those last days. If it is a matter of your kids losing school time, I'd still go the first week in June and not worry about it. That's me though, YMMV.

Oh I wished that was the case. Unfortunately our kids are older and we still have one in high school so that would be the week for final exams! You'd think with today's technology they could take those tests online from say, Lake Buena Vista???

I would have just skipped the last few days of school too... but understand your dilema. Hope all works out one way or the other

You are smart, OKW or SSR are very nice and if that gets you there why not. We own at OKW & SSR but stay at BW with a BWView. We also live 80 miles from Disney and can stay anytime they have a room. Good luck with your first choice.

That's exactly why I always look at the school calendar at the latest "potential" date it could be extended to and book for the week after if we should plan something in June!! I don't even sign up for camps for those weeks 'cuz it's just an omen. NOW tho DS swims in the summer and summer team goes thru the end of July so we started trying to vacation mostly in August as much as we can...

if those highschool exams are something like Regents, the date for those exams would have been set for the regular school year since all the schools in the state will probably not go into overtime. You might check into it and find out for certain before you cancel.

DH and I are teachers. We went 8 years without a snow day, and now we've had at least one for three or four years running. I've learned to not book travel for at least five days after the projected end date of school.

Awwwww, that stinks! Due to flooding in our area and the recent snows, DD has missed 7 days of school. The school district still has not told us how they are making it up, but I'm sure that they will either go a week later or lose their week in February. I totally feel your pain. Here's hoping that you get BWV for your new times.

You know, I can see New Jersey (where I used to teach) having 3 snow days as a cushion, but I'm amazed that Iowa only has 3 as well.

know the feeling. last year here in Ky we got it hard!! some parts of the state went without power for 2-3 weeks!!

Sorry for your misfortune. For some reason we have only had 1 snow day in CT.
Seems to only snow on the weekends and its clear by Monday much to DS's annoyance.
