Stupid Weather!

We had to move our trip away from the first week of school as well. DH and I are both teachers and we haven't had a snow day in over 10 years but as luck would have it, we have had two already this year.

Last May our area of the state was hit with a Derecho which is described as an inland hurricane. There was massive damage homes, schools, and utilities. the streets were impassible, power was out for nearly two weeks, and the city declared marshal law for the hours between sunset and sunrise to discourage looting. School was out for two weeks and , in addition to the damge to our house, we had reservations for the last week in May first week in June. Fortunately the state legislature forgave some of the time and we were able to get enough repairs so that our home was secure while we were gone. We had to get away just to recover emotionally from the disaster. This year we have reservations for the same time as last year but this year we did opt for the travel insurance in hopes we won't have to use it.
