Stupid taxi question . . .

We will be traveling with our 1 year old and will be relying mostly on Disney busses. We will be bringing our car seat for use on the plane and in the town car from the airport.

If we decide to use a taxi a few times during our stay, do we just hold the baby on our laps? That would make me so nervous! I can't see just getting in a car and taking off with him in my lap. I don't worry so much on the bus since it is so much bigger, I guess that just makes me feel safer.

Anyway, I was just wondering about this. We've been in lots of taxis, but never with a baby. We had planned on using taxis a few times when we have PS at another resort, but now I don't know . . .

Your situation is not uncommon, and as such, a lot of the Checker Cabs (the taxis that Disney uses) have car seats available. Just ask a Bellman or Valet to call you a cab that has a car seat.

In the case of the bus, you are right, the size makes a difference. Because of the large size, the force of impact is MUCH less than experienced in a smaller vehicle.

I would not take a baby in any car without a car seat. Things happen that you have no control over.
Suggest you stick with the Disney buses. Much safer for your child.

The valets at any resort will call you a cab with a carseat. I too agree with the other post, never get in a car with an infant without a carseat. If you are not at a resort but maybe some place like DTD or one of the parks just ask the 1st driver if he has one - they are often just stashed in the trunk.

You might also want to carry a towel or light blanket to put in the car seat, some of the ones we've seen looked really gnarly.
