resort guests can make reservations 180 days ahead of time. ADRS aare hard to get at the most popular places.
my question: what about locals? people who live in the area and want to eat at disney restaurants? I ask this because we have plans to move to the area.
are the local totally shut out of eating at the most sought-out restaurants(because they are not staying at a disney resort)?

We have friends who live locally and never eat in WDW. They think the food is horrible and there are so many better restaurants outside of the world who are not nearly as expensive.

After Our trip last month, I have to agree the food in Disney is not very good and the value is not there.

Most locals find better places to eat outside the parks.

However, people cancel all the time so don't write it off.

well, we must be in the minority, because we like most Disney restaurants. I was just wondering how locals manage to get reservations. what is the deal with Tables in Wonderland?
I really am not happy with the new online reservation system. too many people are being just plain rude, over booking to cover all bases, and the heck with anyone else.
a person would never tell a CM on the phone, book this , that and everything else. but online, you can do just that.

Well, if you think about it - locals and offsite Guests, and Guests who plan their trips less than six months in advance, have a slight disadvantage, sure, because onsite Guests can book at 180+10 (180 days from one's arrival plus the next ten days).

I'm relatively certain Disney doesn't make ALL the reservations available each day; instead, they 'roll' them to some degree. Plus, you have to figure - unlike someone planning a Disney vacation six, twelve, even sixty ;) months in advance, it's unlikely any local resident will "know" today where or what they would like to eat July 1.
