This is probably really dumb . . . but I'm flying out alone in September and meeting American friends at the Beach Club for 8 days. I know I can use the free wi-fi at Disney to use facebook messenger to contact them if we lose each other in the parks at any point but I want to pop their cell numbers into my phone too just in case I need to call them / in case the wi-fi dies. But how do I put an American cell number into my phone?! Do I need to put in the international dialling code, or not as I will already be in America?! I'm so confused!!! And do I put whole phone numbers, or have to drop zero's like if I was phoning the UK from abroad?!

I've reached the age (30's :rolleyes1) where 8 year olds can manage technology like this better than I can!! :sad2::rolleyes2

You should just be able to put +01 555whatever like that. if you try and call a UK mobile while in the states with +447whatever it should connect.. This should also be the case if you dial +447whatever while in the UK. So in short you can add the number right now and test it, if it connects and you have roaming enabled on your phone then it will work while in the states as well. You may want to entertain using three as an operator as calls to the uk and any mobile data would be charged at the same price as if you were in the UK!

I hope this is some sort of help for you

Thank you . . . so if the cell number is (305)920111 I need to enter it in my phone as 01 305 920111? Is that right? sorry!!!!

Just one point about using 3 Feel At Home its free as part of your contract or add-on for phoning to UK and UK mobiles not to USA numbers.

+ just tells the network to substitute the international dialling prefix (00 in the UK, 011 in the USA), then you add the country code (1 USA, 44 UK etc). So if you have a USA number, just program it with +1 in your phone. Will work from all countries then. I always program all UK numbers in my phone as +44 (and no initial 0), then it works from whatever country you happen to be in, including the UK.
