Stupid Packing Question

We leave for the airport tomorrow so I am in a sea of packing... and I'm not sure what to take!!

This feels like a REALLY stupid question but what will I need for the evenings? Will it be cool enough to want a sweater/cardi? I've got loads of shorts / vest tops for the daytime and hadn't planned on taking anything fancy for the evenings but was thinking I should take something warm.

Am I getting carried away? Its just that my case doesn't seem very full - I seem to have more chargers for camera's / DS / PSP etc than anything else!

:confused3

I always take a cardi, mainly for use in the Malls as the air con can sometimes make it very cool. After being in the sun I seem to get chilly.

Lots of people recommend taking a lightweight cardi for malls (as iron girl says above) and also eating in the restaurants.

I always used to take one and never remembered to have it with me so I don't any more. (Basing this on August/September holidays, not at any other time such a December when I would always take warmer clothes!)

We like to have lots of space going out as we always bring back lots of shopping :)

I agree, the malls can be quite chilly. They make the heat outside feel very good when you have finished shopping. Also if you are planning to go to any dinner shows I would advise taking a cardi or perhaps wear something lightweight with sleeves as they too can feel quite cold when compared to the outside. You can always buy something over there quite cheaply anyway. Have a good time!!

Thanks guys - I've put in a couple of lightweight hoody's. Hopefully they will do the job. If not I'll just have to buy something.

I have just weighed my case - just under 20kg and I have packed an empy holdall to bring home my holiday purchases in so it's looking good on the shopping front :)

Just want to get going now!!

Never needed anything but shorts and Tshirts in October (Never been in Sept) but never spend more than about 20-30 mins shopping. Just enough time to go to discount Disney shop and out again, none of us like shopping.
It all depends on your own prefference, we like to be cold inside, In our car we even keep aircon going in UK thru winter.
If you feel the cold easy you may need something but we wouldn't in Sept.

yes, it's still VERY hot in september (and humid)...

i only needed something a bit warmer for restaurants because of the A/C, which they like to run at arctic blast levels for some reason...

Sounds like I'm all set then :)

I think the heat is going to come as a bit of a surprise for me - never been to the US before and it's not as if we've seen any sunshine in the UK this summer... so A/C on blastmode will probably be a good thing for me!

I'm just back this morning after a short three day trip.
Absolutely no need for anything other than a tee shirt at night for me, the lows were around 75 Deg.

I always find the first few days pretty hard going until you acclimatise.
I find the air con anywhere a godsend but it can be a pain if you're in a draught in a restaurant.

I think the shock will be when you come home to cool weather here in October!
You sound like you're all set to go.
How exciting, have a fabulous holiday.

Thankyou very much everyone - I hope we have a magical time too!

Have been planning and saving for this holiday for over a year and it has been a long time coming... but now it is almost upon us and I am TOO EXCITED!!!!!

Have a really great holiday. I always find it difficult to pack when the weather in UK is so awful...you cannot imagine being hot:lmao: Last year, when we had our one and only heatwave, I found it really easy but this year, like you, i have already started to wonder what to wear at night. I am taking a light weight pair of Mackenzie combat type trousers (which i bought at the airport last year and have been a god send) and just a hoodie for at night.
