oK TELL me what you really think. I see that the lunch times for most are about $10 cheap than for dinner. Would it be tacky of me to book, for instance, Crystal Palace and Chef Mickeys for the latest Lunch times instead of a dinner time? I know even though we would eat a big dinner we would still have a snack later. What would you do? What is the lastest for lunch? Though what we would save by eating at lunch time we would still be having the same snack at night! Thanks for your input!

I think Chef Mickey's only serves lunch at certain times of year, not all the time. I know they had if over free dining last August/September, but not sure if they kept it or not.

ETA: I think the latest for lunch is 3:30 most places.

Its not tacky to book a meal time that works for you :goodvibes. My DD and I are doing this at CP next month. We'll eat a big breakfast that morning, CP for a late lunch and something light if we get hungry later.

I think it's clever, but I think you could end up eating food that's been sitting for awhile on a buffet, rather than fresh. But for TS restaurants that aren't buffets this is a great idea. This is why we like to eat a later breakfast many mornings so that we can skip lunch.

This!

Mmmm... Nothing like a nice heat lamp and/or steam stray crust to add flavor and texture.

Who knows? Maybe everything rotates around enough that you won't get stuck with the last morsels, but if you do, I can't imagine they'll be optimal quality.

We have done this with Whispering Canyon.

We always like to go to extra morning hour @Typhoon Lagoon for Crusher Gusher time after time (wife actually thinks it is my boys idea :rotfl2:) then when the normal entry people come in and it starts getting busy, we head back to the room, change, eat a snack and off to our morning park. We stay there till about 2:30 and then eat a late lunch at WCC. While the skillet is missing a few things from the dinner skillet, it still gets a workout. Then after a rest we head to night park, followed late at night with ice cream trip to Ghirad's or the Beaches and cream.

This is one of the money saving tips that I have read before...it is a great idea!

We have been on the DDP on our past two trips, but I am already planning those mid afternoon meals for our next trip which will be non-DDP (oldest DD will be a "Disney adult" on our next trip).

We ate late lunches at Tusker House (Tuskerhouse?) (the time just worked well for our touring plans) and Biergarten (I thought that we would try to see Candlelight Processional) on our last trip, and it was great. It was much quieter, food was great (we didn't find dried out food on either buffet), and we didn't need dinner. We didn't even eat that late - I think that are ADRs were at 1:30 or 2, and we didn't need dinner. (To be honest, after eating lunch at Tusker House, a vegetarian's dream, I didn't need breakfast the next day, either!)

BTW, we have had dinner reservations as early as 4:30. I would guess that lunch ends at 3:30 or 4, but I don't know. Hmmmm...

ETA: I found the lunch and dinner hours! At the Disney World web site, I went to try to make dining reservations. When the restaurant list came up, I can hold my mouse over the name and a little pop-up is displayed with hours. You can also see the hours if you go to dining and click on each particular restaurant. It looks like lunch is around 3:30 just from a glance.

We much prefer lunch TS than supper TS.

We aren't rushing around trying to make it to a dinner ADR when we are tired and it's usually cheaper. Plus we have more time to digest the food before bedtime.

Some places aren't open for lunch so we have no choice if we want to eat there but most are open.

Why would that be tacky? That's pretty much what we did when we were there in '09 for EXACTLY that reason. We didn't book the latest lunch they had, but we deliberately ate late lunches around 2 or 2:30 for specifically that reason. We'd have a late lunch as dinner, and then have a sandwich for dinner. It worked out great.

Tacky NO, Smart yes ;) If you schedule the last lunch ADR times then you will also be there for when they put the dinner out right?

That's not tacky at all.

If you aren't big breakfast eaters, you could have an early TS lunch and do a QS dinner.

I really like last breakfast seatings. You pay breakfast prices and they put out lunch foods while you're still there.

I think it's clever, but I think you could end up eating food that's been sitting for awhile on a buffet, rather than fresh.

Buffets have legal requirements for how long food can sit out. You have just as much chance of finding food that's been sitting out for near the limit in the middle of a meal service as you do at the end. They keep replenishing all throughout the meal. They can be shut down for leaving out food too long.

If the seating is the last lunch one then they're putting out the dinner foods while you're there. You get nice, fresh, dinner foods (if the foods are any different than what's served at lunch).
