My neighbor's 13 yr DD is riding on the back of their tractor, standing up stradling the seat. She is doing this while her mom is mowing the lawn. I have talked to both the mother and DD several times about how dangerous this is (we moved in when DD was only 6) but apparently it continues to fall on deaf ears. My Dad completely lost 2 toes and has only stubs of the remaining toes from falling off a tractor while mowing the lawn, so this is a topic close to my heart.

Take pictures and contact Child Protective Services (or whatever they are called where you live).

Perhaps you could print out the thread that was posted here a week or so ago about the little boy who was injured when he fell off while riding a lawn mower his dad was pushing. If I remember right he lost a limb or two to the experience.

:scared1: I got goosebumps just reading this!!!

Where I live thats called Child endangerment. I'd call the cops the next time she's doing it. She may end up hating your guts but at least maybe then she'll stop doing it.

Okay, I agree she needs to be turned in to CPS. A little girl here was killed when she fell off the tractor her daddy was driving. She had been sitting in his lap. It happened so fast that he couldn't stop in time. She was only 6 or 7 at the time.

I know it is not exactly the same, but the results could be:

Just a week ago, there was an accident in my home town that happened to a toddler. I don't expect the toddler to have known better - & this truley was an accident - but your neighbors are definitely old enough to know better!

I am posting a link to one of many articles. Please feel free to print it out to give to them to read!

Here is the short story: Police said the husband of the woman babysitting the little girl was mowing the lawn when the child ran towards the mower.
Police said the driver tried to swerve to avoid the toddler, but the girl ran in the same direction and caught her foot under the mower. The girl was rushed to Hasbro Children's Hospital where she underwent emergency surgery.
The Herald News reports that surgeons have amputated the girl's foot.

sometimes people just do dumb things, and won't listen to common sense.

With that said, I would mind my own business.

My idiot neighbor drives quickly down the 1/2 mile gravel lane next to our house. That wouldn't be so bad, but she does it while her 9 year old daughter stands on the rear bumper of the car, holding onto the spoiler.

She says her daughter likes it, so she'll keep doing it. After all, it's fun. :rolleyes1

Its all fun and games till someone gets hurt.

Wow that eould totally freak me out to see to no end and I imagine it is totally hard for you because of what your dad went through. I am terrified of my kids using lawn mowers or power tools or anything like that. We have yard service here and I am just happy with that. My dS 16 did use some kind of power branch trimmer when we were doing our yard for his birthday party and I pretty much freaked out and had to go back in the house and not watch. I can't imagine seeing a child on the back of a power lawn mower. Is the dad around? Can you talk to him?

I had a little boy in my class this year who had TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) because he fell off a tractor and was ran over it as a toddler, this lady can't possibly get how traumatic it could be if the child fell....I'd contact someone too probably, better than waiting until something happens and they you feeling guilty because of it
