I looked out the window while having lunch today. I saw a mommy and daddy bird feeding two baby birds. They were standing on a railing next to the nest, under an awning. They were only 15 feet from me. it was like a discovery channel show!

But then I noticed another baby. about 1/3 the size of the other two. and it was on the ground 10 feet below the nest and railing. No where old enough to fly. it could not even walk straight yet.

The parents tried to get it to go towards them and into a bushy area. but when it did not follow,

they went back to feeding the other two....

And you didn't put it back in the nest why????:confused3:confused3:confused3

In case u were curious that whole "If you touch a baby bird the mom/dad will abandon it" is Bull ****zu...........

You can safely handle the baby in order to replace it in it's nest. :thumbsup2

it was kicked out of the nest on purpose, not just by its siblings but by mother nature.

We've lost 2 baby birds in as many days. I have a nest in my garage that kicked one out the other day, and we lost one out front yesterday.

I hate it, but it always happens. I had a nest in my barn in North Dakota that worried me sick because they were "my babies" Thankfully they all made it, but that's not usually the case.

I've got a BILLION rabbits around here and so far I've found 3 dead babies. :sad1: I know there are a TON of them out there, and I really hate them eating my flowers, but the babies are so cute it's sad when I see a dead one.

I'm sure the species will continue and I stopped doubting nature long ago. Remember, not all the baby turtles get to make it to the sea.

My German Sheppard treed a family of raccoons today in the woods and shook 2 of the babies....we are hoping they are still alive....not so much natural selection but we really felt bad.....and if we would have seen them ahead of time we would have coralled the dogs, but didn't notice until he was practically on top of them. Bad karma I am thinking....:headache:
