hey guys, I was in charge of fundraising for a horse show and I need to make up a report on how much $$ we made. It is simple math and I cant get it to add right because my brain is fried from staring at the computer on morning can someone help me?

I have all the amont except 1 and I have the total but I cant figure out the amount I made for the grill at the show....it simple math but I cant figure it out....

here are the numbers

I have a total of $959.00 in checks here.

before the show I turned in $188.00 worth of checks..( i dont have these but I need the amount to figure how much I made)

the silent auction made $445
the live auction made $210
the 50/50 Raffle made $38
grill at the show made ?

the grill cost us $208.95

Can someone figure out how much the grill made at the show and how much profit we made?

$959.00 (total checks)
-$445
-$210
-$38
= $454 (revenue from grill)

$959
+$188
= $1147 (total revenue)
- $208.95 (grill)
= $938.05 (total profits)

Anyone want to check my work?
Or did I misinterpret some of your numbers somewhere? Were the $188 checks from something included in this analysis? I am unclear on what they represent.

I'll do this two different ways because I'm not sure about your totals.

Assuming that your total made is 959+188 (i.e. the checks add together), the answer comes out this way.

Your total profit is:

1147 (total brought in) minus
445 (silent auction proceeds)minus
210 (live auction proceeds) minus
38 (50 50 proceeds) minus
208.95 (cost of grill)

Total profit is 245.05 on the grill.

Now assuming that your 959 includes the 188 of checks already in the bank, then your profit is 245.05-188 or 57.05. Sure hope that you really meant that the total was 959 + 188 because $58 for a whole afternoon over a grill wasn't worth it!

I think you may have miscalculated the first part of your equation.
959
-445
-210
-38
=266 (not 454)
