I know these rules are in place to keep us safe, but how do you do it?
I flew to New York last month and only packed for a weekend, so it was not that bad. I bought the 3 oz clear bottles from Walmart and put my shampoo/conditioner in those. I checked everything else (make-up/hairspray/gel/etc) and everthing pretty much exploded from the air pressure. Now we are going to disney for a week which means we need way more then 3 oz of shampoo/conditioner (I know the hotels supply this stuff, but I am kind of a product snob and need MY stuff)
So do you guys just check everything and let it explode? I do put everything in it's own ziplock bag so it at least doesn't get on everything else.
What do you do??

I've never had anything explode or even leak in my checked luggage due to air pressure changes. But I put liquids in zip lock bags--just in case.

I have never had anything explode on a flight. Like you I put everything in plastic bags just in case. My trick: I gently squeeze out any air that I can and then close the bottles. If the bottle is brand new I take out a little product so there is room to squeeze. This gives you a little space for expansion. So far it has worked great for me.

Good Luck and have a great trip.

I always pack my shampoo in zip lock bags and have never had a problem. Nothing is aresol though. I pack lots of stuff and always check it in. I never bring it onto the plane. Never did before and won't do it now. Don't worry. You will be fine.

We just flew last weekend, to San Diego from Oakland. We had a bag that we checked (there were 2 girls that used the same bag) and we had aerosols packed, nothing exploded. But we did pack everything in plastic Ziplocs just in case. We were fine. And if you don't want to do it, there is a Target about 2 miles from DL on Harbor, you can go buy stuff if you need it.

I have had stuff explode or leak in checked baggage so I now carry on all my liquids. I buy the trial sizes at the drug store and I also have small 3 oz. containers, also from the drugstore, that I put all my stuff into that isn't available in trial sizes. For the larger items, or things that you are going to need more than 3 oz. of, (saline solutions, etc.), I make a stop at a drug store or Target immediately after picking up the rental car. I always have to pick up a case or two of drinking water anyway. Keep in mind, that each person can carry on a 1 quart bag of 3 oz. containers. A family of four gets four one-quart bags of stuff. Should be more than enough for a one-week vacation.

Wow never heard of exploding bottles, After almost 100 vacations with upto 12 hour flights we have never had a problem. Just check it all in. We carry laptops and camera equipment everything else goes.

I had shampoo blow up once, it was a full bottle though... so I never bring full bottles anymore, and always ziploc them to be on the safe side... We fly a lot, and check our stuff mostly, and have so few issues that I can remember the 1 time the shampoo soaked everything in the ziploc!

If it was up to me, id make an airline to which we put guest in sleeping cells so there would be no chance of any hijacking and fights. :P

everyone would be fast asleep and the sleeping cells can be used as a protecion if the plane crashes... :)

Good idea huh...

anyways... should just put everything in none carry on bags...

I put all my stuff in ziplock bags and nothing exploded. To be honest even if they allowed things to go with you on the plan I would still do it this way, it is just so much easier, for me anyways. Make sure you puy your stuff in a ziplock bag

Yes!
I love your idea. Great to live in your world. Ive never had anything exsplode, but I have had things leak, thats why I put everything in plastic bags. :yay:
In my world we would all be able to have first class and be in our own sleepers with warm towels and lobster and champagne , internet, movies, and some one at home cleaning my house.:upsidedow

You can actually bring your saline with you. From the TSA site.

I am SOOO careful! I went to Linens N' Things & bought the $10 quart bag w/ all the little containers. I told my GF, be sure you do the same, gave her links to rules & the product at the store. She ignored me, had to go to check her bags & I sat at the gate by myslef for an hour. She almost didn't make it!

So on the way home I checked my bags bc she did & nothing exploded, but I MUCH prefer to follow the rules & carry on - this was just an overnight Vegas trip too, I only needed 1 bag. A DL trip would mean AT LEAST 4 bags for all of us (which I WOULD check in), but we drive so I'm off the hook. ;)
