I am so mad! I went to purchase tickets on Delta's web site with my mastercard. They have this new secure card program that I had to sign up for in order to use my mastercard. And after entering all of my info, Delta then won't accept my card. It is a debit card, and I know without a shadow of a doub that I have enough money to make the purchase. So I have no idea what is going on:mad:

So I call secure card. And the agent there can look at the transaction and says that for some reason the web-site is not reading my expiration date correctly. Talk to Delta. So I hit the web chat button, and all that guy does is give me a phone number so I can call Delta. I cant ell them the web-site is having problems. Fine. Already at this point is seems to be way too much hassle, but I will go for it.

So I call Delta. At first the guy can't even find the flights I am looking at. And when he does he quotes me a price that is more than $100 more than what the web-site is telling me! I get that sometimes when you call the prices are different, but it is because of the stupid web-site that I have to call at all!

The agent even refreshed his page and told me the same price again. I could quote him everything about the rate I was looking at xxx was the ticket xxx was taxes, but nothing doing. So I hung up without buying the tickets.

I'm so mad and frustrated! The flight times were perfect, and at a rate I could afford. Continental has a similar rate, but the flight times are not the best. UGH!!!

What the heck is going on?

Try your purchase again. Once it declined my card, I tried again and it went through without any problem. Try another card to see if the problem is your card.

The secure card agent told me she could see it was the Delta web site that was having problems. And I just got done chatting with another Delta agent who would only tell me that in the hour I have spent trying to figure this out, the prices have gone up! Too bad, I will have to pay the higher price if I want Delta tickets. It doesn't matter that I have been trying to purchase the tickets for an hour, and it is a glitch in their web site that has prevented me from making the purchase.

I'm just a bit mad and way over Delta.

Who can remember when Delta would not let you use vouchers towards your flight when you booked on line? Or do they still not?

You had to telephone and pay the extra fee they charged for booking that way.

I don't know how your debit card works but with mine, if i spend $400 in a day, I can't use it for the rest fo the day. It keeps people from using it to go crazy if it is stolen.
They should honor the prices you were quoted online. I mean it wasn't your fault that the site was down. Good luck with it!!

That is a recurring problem -- particularly, if your debit card is issued by a small, local community bank (who tends to have lower daily purchase limits than some of the super-regional/national banks).

So I have talked to both Delta and the Secure Card people multiple times. The Secure Card reps continue to say there is a glitch with the Delta's web site. That for some reason when I put in my expiration date it is not reading correctly. Delta continues to argue that it is not their fault. The newest excuse is that it must be the bank my debit card is with is "not compatible" with their web site. What?

And in order for them to just process the purchase over the phone would be another $20 a ticket.

The more I speak with the people at Delta, the more suprised I am that they can run an airline. The supposed supervisor I was speaking with even told me at first it was only a $20 fee for the whole transaction. And when the math wasn't adding up checked with someone and then figure out it was a $20 per peson fee. How could a supervisor no know that?

I'm very upset and frustrated and I'm wondering if God isn't just trying to tell me to skip this trip.

Expedia and the other booking web sites don't have ticketing fees anymore so you can book there if they take debit cards.

About Expedia ... if you need to make any changes to your flight or your flight is canceled, you will need to deal with Expedia rather than the airline directly

Was just reading my way through the thread and was about to tell you to go through Orbitz. I had the same situation come up when I tried to book back in April on the Delta site. Same prices & same flight times/numbers were available on Orbitz so I went ahead and paid through Obritz!

Best of luck with the rest of your trip. And a little heads up, I have come to find out (thank you fellow DISers) that Delta is infamous for changing flight times. Our flight times have been adjusted 3 times since April and we're not leaving til Dec! Luckily for us, the times have been in our favor - Leaving home a few minutes early and leaving Florida 30 minutes later! A little more time to enjoy that Disney magic!

I saw the title to this thread & all I could think of was

"STUPID JUDY!!"

I know sometimes people don't like Epedia, but I have found they are easier to deal with then the airlines. Plus it usually doesn't take as long on the phone. They are also will notify usually through e-mail, about any changes.

Next trip to Disney World November 10-18, plus going to MVMCP.

Yes, watch out for Delta....last year they changed our flight 8 times within 3months...never notified us...I finally got wise and started checking the web site every day. On the way back, we had a lay over in Atlanta and then the gate number was changed 4 times as was the departure time...we almost missed our flight home. I'm over Delta. Next time, I'm going with Southwest.
