Stupid Character Buffet Question

Um... the only character meal we've tried so far was family style. So I have a character buffet question.

Let's say we're at a buffet. And a character is making the rounds of the tables. But we're up at the buffet, and miss them! Do they go around enough that we'll probably catch them when we sit down again? Or should we leave the kids with one adult at the table and send one person to fetch food? :confused3

You might miss them and if it's busy, they may not come back around. That said, you don't necessarily need a permanent lookout. Watch the traffic patterns of the characters and if you see one heading your way, wait until you go for the next fill up.

I agree with the above poster....if you watch, you'll see the pattern that the characters follow around the restaurant.

At Chef Mickey's...we do watch for when the characters are coming. Sometimes, one of us adults will stay with the kids while the other goes & fills our dinner plates.

But at Chef Mickey's...the characters come around so often that, honestly, we've missed them sometimes & we've just been like, "Oh well...they'll be back".

Recently had the breakfast buffet at Donald's. I felt like the characters had a defined route and there was no backtracking. If you haven't been to Donald's the seating is in separate rooms and all the characters seem to be in the same room at the same time. It's easy to determine a good time to go to the buffet based on what room the characters are in. That being said, at this particular restaurant it seemed like you had one shot to see the characters and that was it.

At the Crystal Palace there is a definate pattern the characters follow. We asked our server and he made sure to let us and his other table know when they would be comming. He gave us about a 5 minutes heads up since we were about the first table they came to on our side of the restraunt. We just waited until they came if we had been planning to fill our plate.

At CP, they -well Tigger-tended to weave around a bit and I did miss him once, so I made sure I sat there until he came around again-at CP they do a little march and sing a song so I shot to the buffet and back whilst they did that.

At Chef Mickey's our server was very good about letting us know when the characters were coming and when it was safe to go to the buffet. At PSB it was easy to see the route the princess's were taking and see when they were getting close to your table to plan accordingly. If in doubt ask your server.

The characters do have a set pattern to follow and are instructed not to go backwards, unless a table is totally skipped. That said, I agree with the other posters to either tell your waiter to give you a heads up (although they may be too busy to do so) or watch on your own and when you see a character close to you, keep the kids at the table. If you are observant you can tell which way they are going and approximately how long it will be until they get to you. Have a great trip! :mickeyjum

We had this happen at the breakfast in AK. When we asked our waitress she said once they cross over they can't come back. So we asked if Donald would make his round again and they said no he is done, We waited for him to make his rounds and then went to him as he was exiting the restaurant. When we did all the kids in our area followed. Donald stood and meet with each child. The CM hoarded off children who were trying to get a 2nd visit so those who were missed could have a chance for autographs and photos. Of all the Character meals this was the only one we did not enjoy.
