We had a non-stop on the way down and the way back and both now have delays.
I fully understand and appreciate your predicament. I'd be ticked off too.
The sad fact is that we're all at the mercy of the airlines. Delayed flights, seating assignments, itinerary changes, lost luggage, overbooked flights, etc., are not in our control. If
WE managed the airlines . . .
To continue, I remember getting a cheap fare almost a year ahead, and the flight kept getting changed until we were taking almost twice the length of time as originally scheduled. I complained. I was offered my money back. Uh, oh! I had to shut my mouth. There was no way I could get another flight that cheap when I wanted to go.
I know everyone probably wants to get to see

as quickly as possible to enjoy the maximum time available. We do too, but now our family considers "getting there" as part of our adventure. That doesn't mean we're gushing with happiness when we miss connections as a result of airline delays or have flights cancelled due to mechanical problems or weather. We simply try to find fun, and often silly, things to do instead of sitting around in a foul mood.
We've roamed all over O'Hare, Houston InterContinental, Hartsfield, and Miami airports for hours when our flights have been delayed. I've had elevator and escalator races with my kids. Pretty

, huh?
Heck, we're always waiting for the gate announcer to call out, "We need five people to give up their seats . . ." At $200 a pop, that's a G-note for us to spend a little more time exploring. So far, they've never needed more than three. I'll add that I'd have never been so eager to volunteer back before we had cellphones.
Well, I guess I've wandered far enough off the topic.
Enjoy your adventure.
