Stupid ? 1bedroom vs. 2

I have what is probably a stupid question. How come a two bedroom DVC is more points than 2-one bedroom DVC. Isn't a 2 bedroom a one bedroom with a studio. It seems like you would get more room and use less points if you reserve 2 one bedrooms. Any advise welcome.

Do you mean a 2 BR versus 2 studios? Could you give some examples?

For example, I am looking at BCV choice season, (S-Th), A studio is 12, 1BR is 24 and a 2BR is 32....

The difference between a studio and a 1 or 2 BR is that the studio only has a small kitchette (a microwave/small fridge). The 1 and 2BR units have a complete kitchen and living room. Also, the 1 and 2 BR units have a washer and dryer and also a jacuzzi (whereas the studio does not).

At no resort or in any season can you ever get two 1-B/R units for fewer points than a single 2-B/R unit. The 2-B/R is always fewer points that getting two 1-B/R units instead.

Example for BCV, VWL and BWV preferred, all weekday points:

<b>Season.....One 2-B/R villa .....Two 1-B/R villas</b>
Adventure.....30.....44
Choice.....32.....48
Dream.....34.....56
Magic.....40.....60
Premier.....50.....80
If using weekend points, similar differences are found: EG Premier is 106.....150 points respectively

In all cases a single 2-B/R villa is more points than getting two Studios.

So not really sure about your question, but....

NO, you cannot get two 1-B/R units for fewer points than a single 2-B/R unit.

YES, you can get two Studios for fewer points than a single 2-B/R unit.

And, in SOME cases you can get <u>TWO Studios</u> for fewer points than a <u>single 1-B/R</u> unit, and in some cases you can get a <u>1-B/R</u> unit for fewer points than getting <u>Two Studios</u>, and in some cases it's the same number of points. See the chart below.

Example for BCV, VWL and BWV preferred:

Choice.....24.....24

All the examples above are for weekday points. Weekend points have a similar distribution.

A one BR is essentially double the poins of a studio (as it should be) and a 2 BR is just a couple of points less than a 1 BR plus a studio. Remember you are mostly paying for the square footage and not the sleeping capacity per se.
