OP, sorry you had such bad luck. It sounds like you handled things perfectly.

Hope you were able to still make some magical moments with your daughter.

Your next trip, you are due for some incredible good luck.

I hope your daughter's sinus infection is cleared up now.

I'm so glad you ended up with pixie dust!

We just got back from an 11 night stay, and there were lots of rides down frequently. We thought the lines were different than normal too.... For example, I couldn't believe how long the lines were for Mickey at Magic Kingdom. Our last trip was in October 2015, and you could always get into see Mickey without a crazy wait. Not this trip. We ended up going at park opening one morning just to make sure we got it done. Soarin, on the other hand, was under 20 minutes multiple times throughout our trip!

Hi everyone! Some of you have made comments about my being a nice person. Heh. Aside from being Canadian (gotta keep up that image), I don't think I'm particularly nice or reasonable. But I do realize that customer service is a very difficult job, particularly when your job is to deal with complaints all day. I didn't want to make someone else's day a crappy one: what good would that do? She had nothing to do with our troubles. I just wanted her to pass on our experience as appropriate. And while I still think Disney had a role to play (it seems that there shouldn't be that much downtime and I think they should consider how to deal with that via staffing or whatever they need to do), us hitting all the outages was just very bad luck.

Happy to report that my daughter is much better today. Maybe it was just sinus irritation? Fingers crossed.

We did have some lovely moments. Aside from anything else, I got to spend 5 days just me and my awesome kid.

Oh yes, the moniker is an old nickname from my days as a voice student :)

So glad to read a post where many things went wrong but in the end, things were good.
I wonder though, just curious, were some of the rides down due to weather? Like TT especially? It will go down with just regular rain, one of the few, if not only ride, on property to close for rain, no lightening needed?
We were there from 8/25-29 and other than outages for rain, never encountered a ride down due to mechanical issues. But we did find a lot of outages from rain or storms.
I think the first day TT was probably impacted by weather. Not so much the second day.

Wow,sounds like a terrible case of murphys law. We were there the week before you, 5 full park days, and we didnt encounter even 1 instance of a ride being down. That would have been so frustrating, but glad they handled it well for you.

Glad Disney gave you some pixie dust to make up for your frustrations!

We just got back last night and out of our 6 park days we didn't experience any down time that affected us, but sounds like we got lucky.

So sorry you had such rotten luck!! Usually a couple of things go kind of wrong but your family certainly had your share and then some. I'm glad Disney was able to sprinkle some pixie dust on your trip anyway! Hoping your next visit is problem free! :)

First congrats on your master
WOW you sure did have a string of bad luck. I am sorry it started sounding like my trip in 2006 when Everest and dino broke down on me, and I didn't have a hopper but had a free ride photo ticket. They let us hop to Epcot just so we could get the free photo. (This was also the trip when my dads overtime didn't come in so I had to pay for the hotel and was tight the whole trip.)
I am so glad that they helped you out. I sure hope when you get to go back you guys have fun and fewer downs.

We just returned also and had the same kind of trip with severe thunderstorms shutting things down on top of it earlier in our stay.

It was a tough trip but we managed and had a good time and actually the rides going down sometimes acted in our favor being able to use FPs later in the day.

Only Disney could basically have a lot of downtime (which to my mind is due to maintenance failures) and people think they are doing a good job LOL!

Congrats on the degree!!!

And from someone in Customer Service I would like to thank you for being a human being when speaking with the CM. We all get frustrated and we all have bad luck but whether you are at Wal-Mart or at WDW it shouldn't change the respect level we have for each other. Just remember the CM at guest relations has zero control over whether TT is operational just like the cashier at the Wal-Mart has zero control over the prices on the shelf. So from a Customer Service POV again I thank you.

Saturday had some downtown due to storms (TT). Overall this Labor Day weekend we saw *a lot* of downtime. Even haunted mansion was down on Friday for a good chunk! The automatic fastpass conversion to "multiple experiences" were nice but Epcot on Saturday was rough with TT and Soarin' down. We left TT and walked over to Soarin' with the lutiole experience FP and got there just in time for Soarin' to break down. Ended up losing the multiple experience FP and just left before it ever even rained.
