The first time I heard the word "dressing" I had NO IDEA what it was. I'm wondering if Julie was right that it is a north vs. south thing. We most definitely call it stuffing here. What do you call it?

Dressing comes from a bottle and goes on a salad.

It's stuffing! ::yes::

Stuffing.
In a box, it is called "Stpve Top Stuffing", so that must be correct.

If it is cooked outside the turkey, it might be dressing.

I never liked it, thought it was just soggy bread. But once I made it the first time all myself and saw all the good ingredients (corn bread and sausage), I learned to love it!

We cook it both inside the turkey and out because we are HUGE stuffing eaters in my family.

Mom used to make it and we called it stuffing.

Now I'll be making it and it'll be called Stove Top. :)

We never cook ours in the bird, it's nice and crispy in its own dish, and it's dressing here in central Indiana. When my grandpa was still alive, we always had two dishes of dressing. One was a smaller one of oyster dressing. He and I were the only ones who would touch it. I haven't had oyster dressing in years.

stuffing - I like how it tastes better after having been "stuffed", although I like the crispy parts too

Regardless of whether it is correct or not, in my family, stuffing is cooked in the bird, dressing is on the stove top/oven.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

My mom is making it, as always, and using sausage. The oyster one mentioned on the show sounds heavenly though!

I call it stuffing too. And we don't cook it in the turkey. I also had no idea was dressing was - unless it was pertaining to salad!

This is how it is in my family. I like the stuffing but my BIL will only eat the dressing - so Mom makes both.

Here in Canada in our home we call it stuffing. Funny thing, I already had my stuffing last month, strange that you are just eating it this week.;)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

We call it stuffing here in Wisconsin. Our family cooks it both in the bird and on the stove... I eat the stovetop version.

We call it stuffing or dressing here in Illinois. We don't stuff it in anything.

Originally from Philly now South Jersey.

It's Stuffing.

In or out of the bird, in the oven or on a stove top...still stuffing.
