Having a quick trip to WDW next week. Headed to MVMCP Thursday, then Saturday we are headed to Daytona. In the meantime, Friday we will be hanging around WDW looking for things to do. We can't go to a park. It would be best if possible if we could spend $0 lol.

At nighttime I'm thinking see the campers' lights at Fort Wilderness then going to the movie. But during the daytime I'm struggling to think of things to take up time. Any ideas?

Window shopping at DTD followed by lunch in the room then maybe a nap before the Christmas lights. Or maybe a Monorail tour of the Christmas decorations that should take up a few hours

Ginger crawl! Go see all the ginger houses at resorts.
Go to AKL and see the animals. Go to fort wilderness and look at the stables.
Take a pontoon ride between por and dtd. Take the little boat from monorail resorts to MK and back. Go to the observation deck at the contemporary resort.

There's a free Animation Drawing class at Art of Animation resort. Tour AoA and Pop and have gelato at the AoA foodcourt.

AKL has lots of free activities. Walking around Celebration is also a possibility.

It might help to know the ages of the people in your party but here goes:

See how many kinds of transportation you can take all the while hitting up all of the resorts and checking out their Christmas decorations.

Check out the trees at AK and Hollywood Studios (both are outside the entrance gates)

Animal Kingdom lodge animal watching, also cooking tour in the afternoons around 3:30.

Downtown Disney of course for browsing however I would pass that up and do resort hopping instead.

Hidden Mickey hunting also at the resorts.

The Pool.

Wilderness Lodge has a free lodge tour at 9 am Wednesday through Saturdays. It is a very interesting tour. The tour takes an hour and it definitely worth the time. :)

Some resorts have hidden mickey hunts you can do (with lists of the answer key) - take boat or monorail to each & hunt for hidden mickeys while exploring and checking out Christmas decorations. try the resorts board here or a Google search to see which resorts are best for thus. It wouldn't be $0, but cheaply, you can go on a pressed penny quest - resorts, DTD have machines & it's only $.51 each

Someone said a "Ginger Crawl" earlier. We actually did that last saturday to waste time between check-out and our 9pm flight. We hit as many resorts as we could to see Christmas decorations, Gingerbread displays, and a mini cupcake crawl. As in, we checked every resort's bakery trying to find unique cupcakes for our group to split and taste test like the Gingerbread Reindeer & Peppermint "Frozen" cupcake at Contemporary, etc.

Just FYI, whenever we've tried to do this, we end up spending $, but here goes.

one idea is to ride the free boats. If you ride them back and forth, that eats quite a bit of time. If you'd done the MK area boats, consider something like the DTD resort shuttle boats.

In addition to spending time looking at decorations, you can spend a slow inexpensive lunch say, outside the GF QS, watching boats, watching the castle. Some vantage spots allow you to watch folks coming and going via bus at MK. It is interesting to see how many folks come and go.

You could perhaps get paid to take a DVC tour. Then, the tour is very much not free if you end up buying, but it is interesting to take the tour. the payback perks differ, but sometimes it is a gift card.(other times it is FP)

Besides holiday décor, you could go to any resort with a lake and walk around the lake. Likewise, if you haven't been to AoA, it is worth seeing all the regular décor at the resort. Many of the permanent displays are photo ops. (add in the animation class) The QS is also good place to get a inexpensive, healthy lunch perhaps.

The BWK area has the art gallery, and options for walking and exploring. At night you can kind of see Illuminations. Bonus to throw in the Swan/Dolphin.

People watch, almost any part of WDW.

tour the new Four Seasons resort, or really any area hotels. The Gaylord is also pretty neat.

I also second a hidden Mickey hunt. It does help to have the guide book or some other means of information on locating them (Online?)

Likewise, you could make your own scavenger hunt. You look at something like online images (or details) then try to locate those thing- like certain signs, or small details. I bet if you started a thread the DISers would love to help.

Do they still have free cookies in the lobby at the Poly in the afternoons? We had these when we stayed there in 09!

You could arrive early at Fort Wilderness and go see the horses. We once went for a walk around the resort using a jogging trail map which was really nice.

1. We did this to collect the transportation cards. Most of the drivers tend to have them.

2. We spent a good hour or so at AKL animal watching and then touring the grounds before heading to another resort.

3. We competed to see who could spot the most hidden Mickey's and little Elsa's running around.

I once spent an evening doing the transportation crawl. Bused over to MK then proceeded to TTA and rode all the monrails, then the ferry. It was fun, free and it's a great time to people watch. After staying at WL in October I'd say do the boats to there and FW as well because you get to see a lot of the lake and it's probably one of the only times you get to ride in a boat OVER a road with cars driving on it. Kind of funny. I know I'm a little easy to please, cause I even like riding the bus around, but my Mom was with me in October and we totally did the same thing again, because she wanted to take a monorail and ride over Epcot and she really enjoyed this.

Pointing out the obvious - but if you are staying at a WDW hotel you can enjoy the amenities there until midnight on your checkout day. If things warm up - that would include swimming.

Also, I found out that late checkout can be granted as late as 1pm if the resort has the space. That allows time for sleeping in and room service!

My kids love the little cartoon corners (specifically at WL) for watching vintage Mickey cartoons. I had to pry them away every afternoon. WL also has a Lincoln Logs table. I would imagine most deluxes have these little areas. There are also crafts at Cub's Den at WL from 2-4 (check times) every afternoon. Probably also in all other kids' clubs.

The gingerbread house at GF is not-to-be-missed.

For the adults - a drink in the lounge at Narcoosees or Crocket's Tavern, or Territory Lounge. Most open mid to late afternoon. (oops- that's not free.)
