Stuff not on Room Service Menu

On the DCL website, it says,

Lunch and Dinner
Lunch and dinner items are available all day and night except during the morning hours when breakfast is served.

But you said that you can get a hamburger for breakfast if you want to. Do you know if they hold fast to that "no lunch/dinner options at breakfast" rule? I know that FH was looking forward to having pizza for breakfast... but when I read to him what it says on the DCL website, he got a little sad.

We order burgers and fries for breakfast. My DD woke up one morning and that's what she wanted. I called and asked and they delivered it 30 minutes later. I never even noticed a notation on the room service menu.

Slightly off topic. We cruised on the Magic on the 11 day Christmas Southern in Dec of 2010, it was our first cruise. Boarding day and the following day we only ordered coffee from room service. That second day we got a call from our room service operator. She told us she picked us as her 'Family of the Cruise' and that for the rest of the cruise (8 days!) we could order warm breakfast (usually only for concierge) and anything off the menus of the three rotation restaurants - to just call her and the restaurant menus would be delivered.

Serious Pixie Dust.

Husband and DD6 both got sick halfway through the cruise. DD6 bounced back, husband did not. He missed 3 ports and lived in our stateroom for 4 days. Honestly a good place to be sick. That Pixie Dust made things a lot easier and nicer for us.

Just thought I'd put this out there that is has happened and hopefully happens every cruise.

Tipping is always a personal decision, but I think this is high. The regular server (who busts his behind all day) has a recommended $4 per guest per night. That would be $16 per day for this hypothetical family of 4. The guy who brings the room service makes a 10 minute walk down the hall with a tray. That doesn't equate to more than half of the work of the regular server in my book. I'd tip more in the $4-5 range.

Again--tipping is personal; there is no right or wrong.

This is also how my family tips. Roughly $1 per item with a $3 min and a $5 max.

That is a pretty descent size snack. How great that would be with a little glass of wine on the verandah.

It really is a decent snack, and not too unhealthy, relatively speaking. lol We'd order 2 plates, for the 4 of us.

We had late dining, so this really held us over between lunch and dinner. And yes...very nice with a glass of wine, relaxing on the verandah!

My DD's and I are going on our second DCL on December 30th and I have to say that I'm so glad a found this thread... We didn't order room service on our first cruise.. I have no idea why but I will be on the next cruise...The Cheese Platter looks so yummy!!! My youngest DD will love the idea of having a Mickey Bar delivered to the room!!!

DW and I have been on 4 Disney cruises. We had room service on 1 and it wasn't much, just a snack. We were too busy doing other things to need/want room service. It all depends on party composition and needs/wants.

I was doing sooooo well until you posted that picture of the cheese platters. Now I'll have to go to the gym this afternoon, so that I'll have room for it during my September 3-day. (And some room for Mickey bars).
All this talk makes me think I should send a package to the ship with elastic waistband pants!

Musta changed over the years. I remember (way back) that if you ordered anything not on the official room service menu, there was a charge. Now I will have to investigate this as grilled cheese sounds wonderful as an item to order

Asking again to see if anyone knows....

Some one mentioned mozzerella sticks and chicken wings.....can you get these from room service? What about a sandwich like ham, cheese and pickles....will they make this for you?

Also, how much do you tip for room service? Do you tip based on how much you order, for how many people or what?

What would you tip for a meal for 4 people?

What would you tip for Mickey bars, cookies and milk?

Don't want to tip too less and don't want to over tip either.
