Thought this would be the best place to ask. Anyone done a study abroad or have done one? Would like to hear about peoples opinions on different programs. I'm considering doing a summer in Japan to finish my language credits (I don't feel like taking level 1 and 2 courses again in a normal setting and my school seems to have a dislike for the level 3 & 4 courses, so overseas it is!) so I would like to hear what other people have experienced!

Also I have done a summer abroad back when I was in high school but the program doesn't offer a college level (other than an internship and that's a little too much for me) program so new program it is!

I studied abroad in Italy this summer :D It was only for 5 weeks though and not really with any program so I might not be much help haha.

Semester at Sea! I have seriously nothing but amazing things to say about the program, and Japan is one if the ports on many voyages. During my voyage, I went to 13 countries in 3.5 months and it was the best thing I have ever done.

I studied in Egypt. It was amazing. I came home with such a broader mindset. I think it is great. I will be encouraging my children to go overseas every chance they get!

I studied in Spain for a summer and it was amazing! I strongly encourage everyone I know to study abroad.

I studied abroad in Spain for a year. We also had an exchange student during my high school days. I highly recommend the experience.

I studied abroad in Germany. So did my husband, although we did not know each other at the time. It was the best thing I have ever done! I recommend a program that is either a full semester or a full school year. A few weeks is not enough to really strengthen your language skills and gain your confidence.

Studying abroad in college was somewhat life changing for us, as it instilled a love of travel and a curiosity about the world AND the courage to go do it. My husband is a businessman and years ago we were asked to move to China. We did it and it has been great for his career. We are now raising three sons in Asia and have seen lots of the world. (Soon, we have to get back and start exploring our own country again.:) )

So, even though the future might not turn out exactly as you plan it (I have a degree in German language and we are here speaking Mandarin) studying abroad can give you a lot of 'tools' which will later benefit you.

Good Luck.

I would too. I was planning on studying abroad next spring but since I want to graduate by this summer it didn't work as well as summer. I really wish I could study abroad again and still go this spring haha.
I was only there for 6 weeks though so it was pretty much just an extended vacation. I knew where things were and everything like I did live there but still. Also a lot of the people bothered me because they were spoiled rich kids spending the summer the Italy. And the classes sucked going by so quick, I had to drop one because it was way too hard in general not even counting the fact we had a test every week!
but it was still awesome! Italy is amazing!
