Studio room guests. With a toaster, microwave and mini fridge. What do you order for groceries?
How creative do you get?

I bought this egg cooker with a lid that you can use in the microwave, so I always get eggs, butter and bread or bagels. Otherwise, it’s usually cheese and crackers, fruit, and things for sandwiches.

We normally get bread and cheese for sandwiches or to heat in the toaster. We also get milk, cereal, soda and beer.

Someone here on the DISboards said they purchase "Just crack an egg" and it's a great idea. Quick and filling

Where you're staying may be a concern when ordering groceries for a studio, FYI.

There have been reports of food spoiling in studios that have a beverage cooler rather than a mini-fridge.

For instance, the original VGF studios have a mini-fridge, but the new resort studios in BPK only have a beverage cooler which may not keep foods cool enough.

It may be wise if planning to order much food to do some research to find out which you'll likely have.

Just milk ( from the Disney location no need to use instacart) - I bring the mini cereal boxes - other than that drinks.

We do most of what has been noted, but also one of the family favorites are melted wraps. We buy tortillas and then put cheddar cheese and pepperoni inside, then roll them and microwave for 20-30 seconds until the cheese melts. Obviously fill with whatever you like. We haven't had milk or yogurt or anything spoil when we have a beverage cooler. We're only there for a week so our food has always been fine regardless of fridge or beverage cooler. The big difference is that the coolers are configured for cans etc. so you can't always fit the same types of groceries in them (have to get creative). So it's good to know in advance which you'll have for a few reasons.

We will get one 4 pack of breakfast sandwiches. Some brands say they are ok in fridge for a day or two. Cream cheese, coffee creamer, eggs , (microwave cooking), bagels, rolls, lunchmeat, cheese, some cut up veggies, (not a whole tray), english muffins, oj, soda.

The most creative we get, is last trip, we had wraps with us and bought the fried chicken dinner. Leftover chicken, I shred, added a pack of BBQ sauce , heated , added cheese. The,rest are more normal stuff.

As far as the coldness of fridge, I've already added a bag of ice(double bagged) to it if I felt it was not cold enough. Also have brought a smallish foldable cooler and stored soda in it with a bag of ice, when I was using the fridge for food. As the food was eaten, more soda went into fridge. I would set it on a towel or two just in case.

DH and I get up very early and I order:

Cheese wrapped in meat (pancetta, hard salami) or cheese sticks and deli ham to wrap ourselves, jimmy Dean scrambles that you microwave, avocado or deli guacamole ,bread, chocolate covered blueberries, Coke Zero in the bottle, a 12pk of water, jimmy Dean ham and cheese croissant, if I can’t get the scrambles, I buy half a dozen eggs and the just crack an egg cups.

Riviera has a small charcuterie for $7 that is a great snack and the kid’s meal breakfast is good and plenty for an adult.

If we bring our grandchildren , we are in a 2 bedroom and we bring more snacks but I don’t cook a full meal.

Canned chicken and BBQ sauce on hamburger buns with some potato chips makes a quick and easy lunch or dinner. A can of tuna, mixed with a little nonfat Greek yogurt, wrapped in a tortilla with a slice of cheese is also a perfect light lunch or snack. Instant oatmeal and the "pancakes in a cup" are my go-to breakfast options. I also have the microwave egg cooker and I will make eggs and wrap them with cheese in the tortillas for breakfast. I try to keep our studio food orders to a minimum and also limit it to non-perishable items, or items that I can use for more than one meal because we generally do split-stays and we are only in the studio for 2 days. Be sure to either bring or order plastic baggies to pack up leftovers or to prepare lunches or snacks for in the parks.

To add, those resort studio beverage coolers are not deep and don’t hold much even with the shelves taken out. Unlike the mini fridges with some storage on the door, beverage coolers don’t even have that with the solid glass.

While did only the one night, they really aren’t good for much more than beverages

The little nooks meant for cans and bottles in the mini-fridge door are really handy for Ziploc bagged foods that can be smooshed into one.

I can say that completely unable to recall what I put in some of them last trip. We had a 2-qt. carafe for iced tea so had to shift some other items into the door nooks. Worked great.

So, yes, I certainly agree with Sandisw that if you're wanting to store much food, DO NOT book a VGF resort studio.

The resort studio food prep area is really skimpy besides. No way I'd want to try to fix much beyond toast in an RS. No decent surface to set multiple items on. And the only sink is in the bathroom.

They're gorgeous rooms but not suited for DVCers preferring light meals in room.

The only things I always buy are: non-dairy yogurt, fresh fruit (a variety), & bottled water. I feel completely comfortable putting my yogurts in either type of mini-fridge. ☺️

If I have my kids with me in a studio, I’ll buy a lot more shelf stable items like: bagels, instant oatmeal packets, mac’n’cheese cups, pretzels, blueberry fig bars, & applesauce cups. I’ll also add in cream cheese & dairy yogurt for the mini refrigerator. 😉

I do store leftovers in our standard mini-fridges as well… but have rarely felt comfortable doing that if it’s merely a beverage cooler. So, it’s actually dining out where I feel the *pinch* of that fridge the most 😆
