Just a quick question. If studios are supposed to fit 4 persons than why is it that people on here advise against it. Is it that bad to put 4 full grown adults in a studio? Any pics of adults on the studio sofa bed so we can make a sound judgement regarding fir, based on needs and not necessarily based on wants?

I think it's a matter of personal preference. If you can handle 4 adults in a traditional hotel room, you will likely manage fine in a studio, especially if it's essentially a place to sleep & shower. If you plan to spend more leisure time in the room, it might be uncomfortable. It also depends on how long you are staying. I'd probably go nuts if I had to spend a week in a studio with my kids, but I'm sure we could deal with it for a long weekend.

DH & I don't mind sharing a studio with our kids, but would never do it with two other "adults"....meaning my parents, his parents, his adult sister, my adult brother, whatever.

Everyone needs their privacy & we would not be thrilled at all with sharing a bathroom or the sleeping arrangements.

A hotel room may have 2queen beds, but except for OKW, the studios at DVC resorts have a queen bed and a double sized pull out sofa. So, even if 2 couples are comfortable sharing a room, one has the smaller sized bed to share, unless you always stay at OKW, and i'm sure some people do.

We have been comfortable doing this in the past, but only at OKW so everyone gets a comfy, queen bed. Plus, the rooms there have a bit more square footage and the bathrooms are huge, so we enjoy it more when we have to share, especially if it's saving $$$ or points. Not sure I would want to share a room if one couple had to have the pullout couch, since even my teenagers don't find them comfortable.
But, definitely, if the trip isn't about having private time, and you won't be spending a lot of time in your room, then sharing a studio with four adults would not be a problem, for me at least.

I wouldn't consider putting 4 adults in any single room, whether it's a studio or a regular resort room. But if you must do it, go with OKW, at least they have two beds in their studios.

The configuration of the other studios makes them even more unsuitable for 4 people. While they're roughly the same square footage as a deluxe room, part of the room is taken up by the kitchenettes. That sacrifices space in the main part of the room. With the sofa bed closed, the room still feels spacious because there's only one bed in it. But when you open the sofa bed, it takes up almost all of that space, and there's no room to walk around.

When hotels list room occupancy, bear in mind that that's the maximum number of persons legally allowed under the fire code. It doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be comfortable or pleasant to have that many people in the room.

I don't consider sharing a hotel room with my children to be vacation, and the fraternity house gave me enough roommate experience to last a lifetime. ;)

I'm probably just a stick-in-the-mud, as people share rooms like this all the time. But, it's just not for me. Honestly, even if it is just the two of us, we strongly prefer a 1BR. I'm a morning person, and my wife is a night owl. Having the living room allows us to do our thing without disturbing the other person.

Studios can fit 4 adults and a child under 3 (?), rather than are supposed to fit, that's my interpretation.

When my son was little (2 to 10) we would get studios, he didn't mind sleeping with his best friend. Now at 14, he's 6'4" (145 lbs) and his buddy is 6'2" (220 lbs) so that hasn't worked for us for quite some time. You may vacation differently than we do, for us studios do not work. I know it's vacation and we spend little time in the room but for even that small amount of time, I want to be comfortable and I want everyone I bring with me to be comfortable. Everyone is entitled to a little privacy.

So it's all in the interpretation of what you and your traveling party find acceptable as accomodations. Given the choice to cram into a room with 3 other adults, family, friend or foe, I would pass and offer to pay for my own room. Trust me, I wouldn't want to be with 3 other grown-ups and/or children in one room anymore than they would want me there. Even two days can seem like an internity when you aren't comfortable or rested.

I could (and did) stay in an OKW studio with four people (three adults and one pre-teen). It was only for a few days (my mother had been visiting her sister down the road and came to stay with us for a few days at WDW).

The OKW studio has two queen sized beds and a nice sized bathroom. It's comfortable and a slight bit roomy compared to the others.

Then you go to the others - BCV, BWV, VWL, SSR, AKV - are not awful, but you have to put up with a sleeper sofa (double sized) and one queen bed. The bathroom is smaller with the toilet and tub in one room and the sink outside that room. Possible, but not as comfortable. These are too small to put two queen sized beds in them like OKW.

Then you have BLT - about half the size of OKW studio - where the sleeper sofa nearly touches the queen sized bed when it is opened up. All the other studios have bed side tables between the bed and sleeper sofa. At BLT, there wasn't enough room between the two for a bedside table, so they made a headboard on the bed with slightly larger ends that will fit a phone. When you open up the sleeper sofa you have to climb over the end of the sofa to get into the bed. The sleeper sofa brushes up against the curtains on the balcony window. Then they put the bathroom sink in the kitchenette. Which they have turned around into the bathroom, but you now have taken half of the kitchenette to make it into bathroom counter (very small). The kitchenette was small to begin with, now it is even smaller. The only room that was comfortably sized was the bathroom.

So some studios can fit four adults (who are comfortable in close spaces with each other), while others cannot.

I agree with the previous poster....4 adults in a studio at OKW...obviously no privacy but not too bad. 4 adults in a studio at AKV, BCV, BWV, VWL pretty cramped but if everyone is patient and you are not spending much time in the room...still OK....a studio at BLT and 4 adults....NO WAY! Honestly you will be tripping over if each other if everyone stands up at once!

I have seen the studio at kidani animal kingdom and it did not look all that small compared to pop century resort. Although I agree a 1 bedroom is more logical but just wonder why Disney would want people uncomfortable or go on the coat tail of claiming the studios are big enough for 4 persons. Kinda misleading.

I think they don't expect four adults in a studio. More like two adults and two smaller kids.

If you were going to be park commandos and spend very little time in the room I would think having a studio would be ok if you were folks you got along with very well. Also, we always say "I want to shower, does anyone need the restroom?". We try to be considerate of others.

Again, if it is just a place to lay your head at nite and grab a quick snack before going to the pool, park or elsewhere, who cares? But if you want to spend time on the porch with a cup or coffee or drinks in the evening, spend the extra points and get the 1 br/2 br.

Our last visit we could have stayed in a studio at BCV but we had DSS and as a young man of 15 I felt he needed privacy and we got a 1 br and let DSS have the sofa pull out in the living room. We were all considerate of his space and privacy. Really, a 2 br would have been ideal but we were point short.
