I will be staying in a Studio for the first time at the Wilderness DVC Villas and was wondering what everyone thought of these rooms. I have only stayed in 1 and 2 bedroom Suites and I must admit alittle concerned about staying in a Studio. There will be 4 adults. How are the rooms, are they really small? What about the Balcony. I was disappointed in the Balconys in the 2 bedroom, very small. Are the same for the Studios?
Anyone have any Tips on this Resort for me? I only stayed there for 1 night last time.

Thanks!!

The studios rooms are roughly equivalent in size to a deluxe room. I believe most have a balcony but I recall some mention of some odd rooms (not sure of type) at VWL that lacked a balcony.

The only concern I'd have for 4 adults is how comfortable 2 adults will be sharing the queen size sleeper sofa. If their okays with it, you should be fine.

We had a one bedroom at VWL last January that only had one small balcony off the living room. No bedroom balcony. And there is one studio without any balcony at VWL.

The rooms are about 350 square feet. Would be shall we say "friendly" for four adults (i.e. squishy)

WL/VWL is a great combination

VWL:
Health Club
Iron Spike Room
Nature Trail walk to FW
Secluded Feeling

There is a WL FAQ kicking around on the resorts board

thanks

It will certainly be "cozy" but doable depending on how you all get along. It will be tights at night moving around once the sofa is open. The balcony is small, I doubt all 4 of you will fit at one time (and there are only 2 chairs). I think as long as you aren't planning many waking hours in your room, you'll be fine. Personally, I love the Lodge. As the OP mentioned, there is one balcony room, see below.

Here is a link with some room reports and it will give you some view comments. http://members.aol.com/InstImpres/wildernesslodge.pdf This will give you an idea of “sectional views”. It is extremely difficult to ask for a specific room (as well as trying on the CM’s). With the new room ready policy, guests have reported getting several choices at check-in and this may than help

I have also created a sheet that just has some highlights of rooms that may not work for everyones needs. You might find that helpful instead:

The files are in adobe acrobat and which can be downloaded from this site for free:

You probably will find the studio to be cramped quarters. The 1 and 2 bedrooms are spacious and roomy. The studio is basically a hotel room. Plus, there will not be privacy for the adults. I would spring for a second studio, if at all possible.

ITA! There will be one queen bed and one double sized sleeper sofa and one bathroom. Unless two of the adults were my teen-aged children I wouldn't even consider a studio. WAY TOO CROWDED and absolutely NO Privacy!

IMHO, you will be a lot happier in a two bedroom unit or two studios or even two hotel rooms.

Best wishes -

Thank You all for your input. Now I know that my concerns were justified. The 2 other adults are my teen age children. And I wish I could have reserved a one bedroom, but I did not have enough points left to do so. I know how much those rooms cost and buying another room is out of the question so a little cramped we will be. It doesnt matter, we are in DISNEY WORLD!! Nothing could get me down when I am there!! Cant wait, only 9 days to go.

Just a thought. Have you considered borrowing points from 2005?

I would try to get a studio at OKW, at least you will have 2 real beds, or go for a 1BR there, the points for an OKW 1 BR are between the VWL studio and 1BR.

I agree, it'll be "cozy", but do-able. Keep in mind that although there are only two chairs on the balcony, there are two in the room and vice-versa (for meals) and you can move them in and out as needed. It's actually a bit better that you can keep two chairs outside unless you're actually using them. Consider requesting a first floor, this way your balcony size area won't matter as much. Have a great time!

We stayed in a studio in for two weeks in January 2003. There were only two of us, but we did have our friends from Sarasota, another couple, stay with us for one night and I was very glad it was only one night. They did mention that the sleep sofa was VERY comfortable.

If I were sharing the room with my own teenagers I don't think it would be sooo bad, but I think that also depends on how long you are staying.

The balcony only really holds two at a time comfortably, and there is only one studio without a balcony--it's on the fourth floor---I have the number written down, somewhere, if I find it I'll pm you.

On the up-side VWL studios have more drawer space in the counters, which I liked. I like to put my toiletries and things away.

All of you have made some great points. I did think about borrowing points from 2005, but I borrowed points from 2003 in 2002. I always seem to need more than what we have. I also thought about OKW, We stayed in a 2 bedroom there in 2002 and loved it. The balcony was sooooo big. I loved waking up in the morning and sitting out there. But, I didnt think my Children, 20 and 18 would find anything to do there. At least at WL there is the beach, pool and boats to keep them occupied. Well we will see how it goes. 7 more days!!! Cant wait.
