This past trip was our first time staying in a studio. We stayed in one for a portion of our stay at SSR. The room was in great shape. But we wondered why there was only one nightstand. It was really a problem for us. We both wear glasses and like to have a glass off water during the night. Where does the person that sleeps on that side put these things? Poor DH had to keep his things on the floor by the bed. And to be honest there isn't much room between the wall and the bed for that. If there had been enough room, we would have pulled a chair over. Another small problem is the lack of table lamps. If someone wants to read in bed, they have to use the lights above the bed. This isn't too convenient for the other person who is trying to sleep. I checked out the floor plans for all the studios and this seems to be the case for all of them except the new studios at AKV. By the floor plans they appear to have two nightstands. I wonder if others have complained. I must say that otherwise the studio was nice. But I am a bit spoiled and will probably continue to stay in 1-bedrooms.

There is not enough room for 2 nightstands. In a regular hotel, if there are 2 beds, there is only 1 nightstand in between.

I agree with the previous poster. The only time I have seen one bed with two night stands is in the master bedrooms of DVC villas. In a studio at most of the DVC villas, the night stand will be between the queen sized bed and the hide-a-bed. At OKW, the nightstand will be between the 2 queen sized beds of the studio/second bedroom.

I understand that there is not enough room, if the nightstands must be the size that they currently are. But look at the layout for AKV. There are two there. I would think that they could fit two if they were a bit smaller. I guess we haven't stayed in a room with two beds for so long and I never thought about it. Personally I really don't count a sofa bed as an actual bed. In most hotel chains a room with one bed and a sofa bed still have two night stands. Our room at the GC a couple years ago had one bed and a sofa bed and it still had two night stands. I guess the question still is, "What do you do with your glasses and such when you rent a studio and do not have a nightstand on both sides of the bed?" Is there something in the room that someone found to work for them? I know my family will appreciate the information when we rent 2 bedrooms in the near future.

We don't usually stay in studios (much prefer the king bed of the 1 or 2 bedroom villas), but when we do, we just both use the same night stand, and whomever is sleeping next to it gets to do the honors for the other. We do the same thing in regular hotel rooms.

We did the same for those trips when we were in a studio (not many of them). Or put them on top of the armoir.

you know I think it relates back to OKW - 2 queen beds the night table in between worked.

with AKV, DVC is trying something else.

the value studio at AKV only have one table.

the model rooms are what is going to be at Kidani - not Jambo house (currently there)

Thanks for the input. We will have to think about this. My entire family are big water drinkers and keep a glass by the bed for during the night and we all wear glasses. When it is just DH and I, it won't be a problem. We have always stayed in 1-bedrooms in the past and plan to do that from now on. But we are getting ready to take some of the family down and I am just trying to think of ideas for the second and/or third bedroom in larger villas. Luckily we are driving this time. So maybe we can fit a small cooler or something like that on that side of the bed. It's funny, in the past when we took our two girls it still wasn't an issue because there was only one person in each of the beds in the second bedroom. Weird how you don't think of these things till you have a problem.

AKV Jambo studios do have two stool-table-y things in front of the couch that form a coffee table. You could put one on the night-standless side of the bed. I'm pretty sure it would fit - even in the value.

We use one of our Suitcases. This way it's a place to store it out of the way and we can put tings on top of it. Sometimes we stand it up but most of the time it's on one of it's sides. Use the handle to wrap the phone charger cord around so I don't have to look for that during the night either.

We just stayed in an SSR studio and I said the same thing to DH. I would have liked to have had a night stand on my side of the bed. I ended up putting my glasses on the ridge on top of the headboard. I used my booklight to read in bed so as to not disturb DH. I also put that on the ridge on top of the headboard...the ridge was about 3" wide, so just wide enough to hold those 2 small things. You couldn't put a glass of water up there.

I know it's the same in a regular hotel room...that doesn't mean I have to like it! ;)

We were in an AKV studio this past week and the little coffee table did not fit between the bed and the wall. DH ended up piling up all the throw pillows from the bed into that corner and was able to set his phone and eyeglasses on top.
