I received a call today from someone stating they were with Sallie Mae and said my loans were deliquient for over 90 days. This was shocking to me since I just graduated in May. I told her that I didn't know what she meant because I just graduated. She put me on hold for awhile and stated that they didn't have record of my enrollment since Dec 04 and my forbearance ended in March. I had never applied for forbearance and didn't even really know what it was until I looked it up after the call. She said if I faxed her a copy of my transcript that showed I was enrolled that would work. After I got off the phone I got to thinking and checked my records. My promissory note was dated in 05 I had no loans before that date. Also she asked for me by my married name and not the name on my school records. The only thing in my married name is my phone bill. It all seems very odd. I did verify the fax number she gave me was one listed on my Sallie Mae papers. Has anyone had experience with a problem like this? I have a feeling they were looking for someone else and just calling anyone that had the same name except now they will be spamming me with nasty phone calls about payments being due. I have had this happen to me before I was married with a completely different situation. Any sugestions??
