Stuck in the hospital....

Thanks everyone. I guess the good news is that they are discharging me. The bad news, is that they cannot really fix what's wrong. I having problems where I'm fine sitting down, but as soon as I stand up and then start doing stuff, my blood pressure drops and I almost pass out. But, my blood pressure is also running high. So they cannot give me anything to lower it, because it will just make the problem worse. I was at my Drs office and was going to tell her about it on Wednesday, yet again, because this has been going on for months. It got much worse the last few weeks and I have hardly been able to function. When they took my blood pressure it was so high that she wanted me to go to the ER by ambulance. I did start a new medication for my neuropathy which can be making the problem worse. So I'm going to stop that Rx and see if there is an improvement and if I stop almost passing out. The thing that sucks is that the Rx was helping take away a lot of my neuropathy pain, which has been brutal. I am kind of limited in what I can take for meds, because I have an esophageal stricture and pills get stuck. I need something crushable or liquid. They also mentioned compression stockings might help some, but because of my neuropathy and weakness in my hands and arms, I would not be able to pull them on. I have a tough time getting on pants, or anything that is tight, on.

Anyway... Thank you for the well wishes. Much appreciated. :goodvibes

Glad you're out! Sorry, there is no real solution for you. Put on some great music and relax. :goodvibes

I don't have someone to have my back if I do pass out.

I was going to ask about that earlier, but didn't want to pry. Can you at least keep a cell phone with you so that if you start to feel uncomfortable, you could call someone? Would a neighbor check on you? I'm hoping you'll be getting better, but it's good to have a backup plan. :)

I do live "next door" to my dad and step mom, but they are not always around, obviously. I should probably keep my phone on my person. My gram cannot even really use the phone any more. As far as neighbors go, I am kind of in the middle of no where. My parents have like 140 acres, so it's pretty rural here. Closest neighbors are like a half mile away.

I actually did pass out a couple of years ago, and before I did, I called my step mom, but she was out. She called my dad, who was actually on his way home, thank god, because I might not be here if he didn't come home and check on me when he did. I sound like those people on the "help I've fallen and cannot get up" commercials. :(

I am just sitting down with my dog and I'm going to watch this week's This Is Us. Being in that stupid hospital messed up my week. Been so hard to avoid spoilers! Thank goodness I had recorded it. I don't know I lived before DVRs. :rotfl:

I've was admitted Wednesday night. This bites. Got any funny stories to tell me? I need a good laugh. :D

I am taking care of my 8 month old grandson today, while his mom picked his dad up at the airport (home for the holidays, hooray) and then went to work. We're fighting some sort of bug here....I'm congested and hacking and coughing; grandson has upset tummy, loose stools and runny nose; son has fever and congestion. Other grandson (4 m.o.) who was here last week is in the hospital tonight (in his state) with double ear infection, croup and bronocolitis (or something like that?). But....

I've been pooped on today. Twice.
The first time, I just had to change pants and wipe down my leg. Not a big deal. Yellow runny baby poop.
The second time....ah, the second time. There I was, minding my business, cuddling the bugger on my chest. I hear a grunt, a wet fart, and then the smell hit. And then the warm wetness. All over my shirt, my leg. he reaches down, grabs a handful, then comes back up and grabs my hair. Lots and lots of yellow runny baby poop.

I had to put my hand under his leg to catch the poop from running onto the brand new (less than 2 months old) couch. DH tried to help, bless his heart. We wrapped baby (clothes and all) in a towel and made our way to the bathroom. DGS and I hopped in the shower, rinsed the clothes, then got undressed. I made DH get undressed to get in and help me, because I couldn't wash a baby and my hair at the same time.

It was so bad, y'all. So bad. I'm running our clothes and towels through the washer twice. Then I had to scrub the shower out. And while we were in the shower, DH didn't take dinner off the stove and it went from being Mexican black beans and rice (and corn/salsa/cilantro) to Cajun (blackened), we ended up ordering Chinese.

Healing vibes sent your way. I hope your Dad and stepmom can keep an eye on you every day at least while you just got out of the hospital.

Hope you feel better soon. As someone mentioned up thread, it sounds like POTS to me as well. My DD was diagnosed about 4 months ago. She has had similar symptoms.

Sorry to hear about your blood pressure issues. If compression stockings would help there are stocking applicators for those who have problems with strength or mobility. Just google compression stocking applicator, there are several different kinds, one might work for you. Good luck to you!

My Db threw out Christmas gifts one year that Dsil had placed/hidden in a garbage bag!

Big hugs to you....

Here is an idea you can do laying down, and I enjoy it. You can play pogo.com you can play for free you just have to deal with the ads. But so many , many games to play. I will keep you in prayers also.

Oh no! I hate it when stuff like that happens. I know one year I had a friend that put her Xmas card in the burner barrel trash and the money was still inside the card. $$$ up in smoke.

Oh my. I'd rather be in the hospital than deal with baby poop. Just one reason why I never had kids. Lol. Hope things are better for ya today! :)

Hmmmm. They make that look so easy going on and coming off. I wonder if the person demonstrating it really has issues with their arms and hands or not. It's hard for me to get some of my own pants on if they are too tight, and I often get stuck in my own shirts, too. Thanks for showing me this, maybe I will price out how much everything is and when I talk to my primary doctor this week, see what he thinks. Also see how I do the next few days since I cut out the Rx and see if that makes a difference. Thanks!

You're welcome! I hope you find something that works for you very soon.

OP, so glad to hear you are back home. It's so hard to get any rest in a hospital. Maybe getting a life alert would be a good thing. Not just for you but for your grandmother also. I know you are young but if your blood pressure drops and you can't get to the phone this very well could save your life. My sister used one for years and it came in handy on many occasions. Plus if your grandmother experienced a medical emergency, you wouldn't have to run around looking for a phone. Instead you could just hit the button while helping her.

Ugh I remember the days of the blow outs. My worst was when my 4 year old crawled into bed with us in the middle of the night. She then proceeded to projectile vomit into my sleeping face and open mouth. It was so loud, it woke my husband up. The most disgusting think I have had to endure so far as a parent.

Got a quick funny from the Wine tasting day -:rolleyes1
- (FROM MY BELOW LISTED SAN ANTONIO TR LOCATED N MY SIGNATURE) -

Ok.....so as we are heading from winery to winery, I had the after effects of the wine, the hum of the car traveling down the road, multiple conversations, etc when outta no where, a lady to the left of me says to Matt (the tour director/driver) to please turn up the car stereo as she really likes hearing that song on the radio

and I remarked to her that that song sounds really catchy - Q: Who sings that song??:confused3

Well, she replied and pronouced the group, "NSYNC" as if she was saying all the letters TOGETHER to spell one word.:littleangel:

Well. dummy me - was really impressed by that song and I-tunesed it asap........
with the other 4 people i bet thinking I musta fallen under a rock since I haven't heard of this group......:o
(I shrugged it off due to the effects of the wine)

Got up the day day, looked down at my Iphone and say that it was , NSYNC" as in "IN-SYNC"!! (and old school group from the 90's)....

DOH!!:crazy2:

Still think its funny with how she pronounced the name of that group -

I can definitely relate. I've been in various hospitals for over four months and I wish that my body would heal faster so I could go home. It gets really old whether it's a few days or much longer.

I do hope that they figure out your condition soon. My problem now is that my blood pressure falls enormously when they stand me up. Plus my feet hurt. Body parts forget how to do things after some time.

Anyone stuck, get a tablet and look for games. It helps to pass the time.

Swap feet for hands and arms, and we could be twins. It does definitely gets old. I'm so over this. If I can just manage to unload the clean dishes, and get the dirty dishes in the washer, and manage to take a shower today, I'd be thrilled. Hope they figure out something to help you, too!
