Ok, the time has arrived! I finally get to book our trip for Fall! How exciting! How exhilarating!

Except now I’m flooding my brain with all the options!!

I was originally planning for November 2-7. We’ve never been in the Fall so I thought that might be nice. We’re not into Halloween, so October doesn’t appeal to me. BUT possibly no fireworks along with the other closures. I’m torn.

So maybe the first week of September. Arrive on the 5th so we can catch the fireworks before they are gone and enjoy summer temps. Better rates on the hotel I want. BUT the 5th will probably be flooded with people thinking the same thing as me. And then stuff will probably go down for refurb and overlays. So more stuff down during our trip.

I’m stuck! What to do! :upsidedow:worried:

Personally, I would never base the timing of my entire trip on the fireworks being available just one night. If the fire marshall declares conditions too windy, then the fireworks are called off, doesn't matter if it's the most special holiday of the year or the final time they are supposed to run for an anniversary celebration. I agree that there will probably also be a number of other closures during that week in September, but the same may also be true of your November week. Those in-between times are when quick maintenance involving closures of just a few days seems to occur for a lot of the attractions these days.

That is an excellent point about the fireworks being cancelled. That's always a possibility. I think part of my issue is that we've gone in July the past 4 times we have gone and I love that time to go because just about everything is up and running. It didn't work out to go this summer now that my daughter works and has other responsibilities. So I am therefore very indecisive about the better/best option for Fall!

Both sets of dates fall during seasonal transition times so you will definitely have ride closures for holiday overlays and maintenance. In early Sep, Haunted Mansion and possibly Hyperspace Mountain will both be down to get their holiday overlays. The start of Halloweentime has not been announced yet, but a good guess would be Sep 9th, so HM won't be back up until then and no one knows yet if Hyperspace will stay or if they will do Ghost Galaxy. Early Nov you can expect IASW and JC to be down for their holiday overlays. They probably won't be up again until close to the start of the Christmas season, around Nov 11th. It's a tough call!

I just want to add that your Nov dates coincide with Fall Dapper Day on Nov 6th. This is great if you are interested in participating! You could also check on the Dapper Day website for great onsite hotel rates (like half price!) if you are interested in staying onsite. This could make up for any attractions/fireworks that might be down.

Good luck with your decision!

Because Halloween and Holidays are now high season at DLR anymore, you probably won't see many maintenance closures in early November. NBC HM will already be up and running; no one knows is Ghost Galaxy will run this year or if they'll keep HyperSM; and the train/riverboats/etc. are already down until next year. With Ghost Galaxy/SM a wildcard, that leaves IASW as potentially being closed for it's holiday layover.

Our trip starts on the 5th so, I would strongly discourage anyone else from visiting at that time :)

This is sound advice. We normally try to go during the peak periods because we can be assured that there won't be any maintenance closures, all attractions will be running at full capacity, the Park hours are extended, and all the ancillary entertainment (bands on the streets, etc) are out in force. The first week of Sep is gamble because it is expected to be lower attendance with kids back in school, so I'm unsure what it will look like. It is the week after the Disneyland Half. Right now, there are no rumored closures, other than those related to SWL construction. Last year's Park hours were 10-9 during the week and 8-Midnight on Fridays/Weekends.

For your November dates, you'll hit Dapper Day, and the Avengers Half is the next weekend. It is too early for the Christmas decor, but you'll have the HM overlay. Other than that, things look the same

Holy smokes! That is a steep discount on the hotels for Dapper day! I had no idea! Thank you.

I found the ticket prices with a little searching around. My daughter is going to flip when she finds out we'll be there for Dapper Day! I am no longer in Indecision Land. And @Angrose is my favorite Diser right now! :flower1:
Happy to help! I've never been to a Dapper Day myself, but it is on my bucket list...one of these days! Keep an eye out on this board for those who will be planning meet-ups for that weekend. Hope you and your daughter have a great time!!

Daisybelle- you may find that you enjoy the Dapper Day experience so much that you plan your future trips to coincide with them! That has been our experience since we went 2 years ago.

Between the lower hotel rates and the fun of dressing up, it's our favorite time to go. The only downside is when it is blazing hot for Dapper Day and you try to look Dapper while you're melting on the inside. Hopefully, November will be nice and cool-ish.

I'm really excited about it! My daughter is already putting together an outfit. This will probably be our last trip with just the two of us now that she's in her 20s and had a special fella, so I think this event will make it even more special! :cloud9:
