Struggling with which week in Jan 2020

I would love some insight on which week to choose in January, I am looking at either January 12-18th or January 27th-Feb1. I have a hotel booked already for both weeks I just need to cancel one and I just cannot make up my mind with week to go because both seem to have some events going on. NAMM starts Jan 16th, and then the ROTR ride opens Jan 17th and that leads into MLK weekend. I have heard that NAMM really doesn't make a huge difference in crowds inside the park generally but more around the parks. The last week in January I was pretty set on but looking at the convention schedule there are like 3 scheduled for that week and instead of just the weekend they run the whole week. So now I am thinking I would rather try for the earlier January dates. Any suggestions? I know we will have fun either way but we were spoiled with light crowds in feb a few years ago and im just trying to shoot for the better of the two options :) We are trying to go in January since our youngest is free until Feb 2 :) Thank you in advance!

Doesn't ROTR open in early December? I don't know what NAMM is - not sure if conventions really have that much impact on crowds in the parks as you say. I'd probably pick Jan. 27-Feb 1 just to get away from MLK weekend.

I'm not sure if you're talking about WDW or DL but ROTR opens December 5th in Disney World. It opens in January on the west coast.

Sorry I should have clarified, I’m talking Disneyland, it opens January 17th. Namm is a huge music convention there and from what I’ve read it doesn’t affect Disneyland crowds much but its like over 100k attendees. Is mlk day usually pretty huge at Disneyland? Like the week before it? We would be leaving by Saturday so we wouldn’t actually be there for that weekend.

You'd be inclined to get more responses posing your question on the Disneyland board. Responses here will likely be for WDW.

But I would think MLK Day/weekend would be busy for Disneyland. It's a federal holiday, so many people off from work so locals may visit. Nearby "locals" may choose to make a long weekend out of it. Disneyland gets more local visitors than anything else.

Thanks!! I did not even see that there was a separate board :)
