Struggling to plan AK and HS in May

Planning for our trip in mid May has been frustrating without having confirmation on whether AK will be open later for Rivers of Light and the night safari, as well as the lack of information on Star Wars fireworks. Not to mention the opening of the frozen ride, which will make Epcot more appealing. I am planning a trip for just myself and DS5, and without those extra attractions, I think we would spend a lot more time at the MK. Would you plan with the idea they will be open? ADRs are starting to be more difficult to move around, so I need to make a firm plan pretty soon.

May would be the absolute earliest they would be open, so yeah, it kind of stinks that you're right on the edge. Honestly, I would probably plan for them to not be open just to be safe.

We're in the same situation! We actually switched our trip from March to May to try to increase our odds of viewing Rivers of Light!

Sounds like a job for park hoppers. Plan the days as if these events won't be there and then hop if they are. If you don't already have hoppers you can add them if the events are on. You can mitigate the ADR anxiety by exploring the QS options. Flame Tree is good in AK as sn example. Don't stress too much. These are nice problems to have.

I've purposefully avoided putting in an ADR for the Animal Kingdom day because It's what Mom wants to do type of day and the Rivers of Light question. I hope we get Rivers of Light announcement by Early march when FP + hits.

Thanks for the input. We do have park hoppers, so that's not an issue. It's a short trip for us, and we usually only spend half days at the parks on many days. I will probably just plan FP+ assuming those attractions won't be available, and move them if anything opens prior to our trip. ADRs are still a little trickier, with just myself and DS5 I try not to do QS, it is just to hectic, so I may plan an early meal outside the park assuming we will head wherever after dinner.

I'm feeling the same way. My trip is May 27th-June 4th and I'm curious about the Star Wars fireworks and Epcot also. The smallest princess in our group has to see A&E. I wish I knew when the Frozen ride and the meet and greet were opening in Epcot for planning. We would be fine either way, it would just be nice to know.
