Strollers

And you aren't exused. I think it is not up to you to tell me or anyone else here to stop or not, thank you very much. And it is called discussion, not a fight. We all have rights for opinions and when you here long enough you will see a difference between a fight and discussion/argument. This one here is not the one.

you clearly always need to get the last word in so go ahead. you can win this one. ;)

I know. I've been saying both sides have equal blame and for the OP to stop thinking its just strollers, but some folks kept going, and now flipped. ;)

But I give up on this thread... Both sides need to be careful..

I will say, I visited (alone) today for a quick 2 hour visit on my way from the Narcoosee area back to Tampa and hit Epcot for a quick pitstop into Mission Space and Test Tract. I am pleased to report I didn't hit anyone, nor got hit by anyone. My float like a butterfly, weave like a bee routine was flawless. Surprised as Kate and her 50 kids were roumored to be in the area.

Oh please, you say both sides to blame but at the same time every situation you describe, you blame walkers, like they not suppose to even stop or slow down while walking because apparently people do not keep a distance. I guess OP is completely responsible for walking infront of a stroller and she deserved a cut.
BTW, I did not bring this thread up, you did.

Moooove on Kelly.... I said don't blame the strollers only, but if a walker cuts in front and the stroller cannot avoid, yes they deserve to be cut... You and the OP tried to pitch the blame squarely on strollers, when both sides can be at fault... I think you can reread some comments on that issue below... I'm sure you'll want to get a word in edgewise.. this seems like a bad episode of Jon and Kate... :rolleyes1

that is my point. don't pin the blame on the stroller in every instance. there are plenty of people that don't follow walking ettiquete either.

While I don't disagree the point we all should be careful...

...

those folks have the blame as much as the non-paying attention stroller, which you are neglecting to point out.

...

Let's not neglect those folks, which is what my original post was about. I'll watch out with my stroller for the walkers, if the walkers watch out for me and my space too.

don't blame one more than the other.

..... If a member of my family stops and I see someone behind them, i'll tell my family member to watch out or move, and have actually pulled them away.

Common sense on both parts is required, but to the OP the comment stands.. don't pitch the blame on tre stroller pushers as many folks are equally to blame at their scuffs.

go reread what I've been pointing out too. the main part is to avoid blaming just the strollers...

So again KellyNY.. just drop it... let's move on shall we?

I push a stroller at WDW I was always very cautious of my surroundings. I never bumped into anyone or had a mishap with my stroller. Oh yeah this is slightly off topic but I read the stolen stroller thread . I will say I felt REALLY comfortable leaving my stroller at diffrent places throughout the parks! There were times I left bags /bottles of juice etc. all over my stroller and nothing was ever missing or moved . I also saw some ppl leave thier purses in their stroller and walk into a show . I would never do that but as always everything was there when we left the show. It felt great to let my guard down in Disney!

do not get too comfy leaving your guard down at Disney.. those are the types that get ripped off... Disney is no different than anywhere else, there are dishonest people there too... count yourself lucky that nothing has happened and do not do it anymore.. it may just happen to you one day. Better safe than sorry...:goodvibes

Here is my take on strollers and hits...

You have those that walk and stop dead and you bang into them. They have no consideration for anyone behind them. You have those that push strollers who use them as a weapon to bang you out of there way. They have no consideration for other guests. There you have it, it works both ways. We have no way of saying who is at fault unless it was us involved.

My kids are much older now & it has been many many years since I used a stroller. Yes, I banged into those who walked out in front of me (not watching where they were going) and I would apologize. I know it wasn't my fault but I have manners. I have also been slammed into where I have been bruised and it was done on purpose.

Heck I have been rammed by a wheelchair when watching the taping of the Christmas show near Cindy's castle. I had to call a CM over to remove the woman in the wheelchair. She came from behind and rammed her way to the front until she rammed me.. then I called for help. Those around me backed me up too. She was removed from the area... and boy was she t'ed off... oh well.. don't ram others and you will be fine :goodvibes

Point I am making is it can happen by accident, or on purpose, by stroller or wheelchair.. even by a body banging into you when not watching where they are going... it happens, it is a crowded place.. and there are some without manners and some with...:flower3:

Totally agree we are still in the thick of strollering in WDW and we try to be really considerate and watch 'traffic' but everyday there's a nearmiss or full contact episode. I LOVE  when parents dragging small children by the hand at the end of the night try to cut across the mass of humanity paying no attention to where the kid is being drug right into the front of our stroller they just stepped over. I hate hitting anyone but seriously walkers are as guilty of not minding those around them. We drive a beastly BOB duallie don't tell me you can't see us, it's like driving a minivan thru your bathroom.

LOL... some are hideous....

I've been thinking we need a 4th, a dual jogger, but those things are fairly wide, and I don't know if I want to deal with that over our sit and stand, which is a beast.

So are you saying that if someone cuts in front of a stroller, then they DESERVE to have their foot/leg/heel (whatever) cut by the stroller?

Personally, I try to give stollers the right of way, but that doesn't mean that I've never inadvertenly stopped without looking behind me.

If someone jumps in front of a stroller.. right there in front and the stroller cannot stop, yes. Its their own fault at that instance of the collision.

If I can stop, then I will. If I can avoid, then I will. But i've seen, and had people literally jump in front 1-6" in front.. If they jump so close that I cannot stop or haven't had a chance to react, then yes, they deserved any injury they receive.

I will do my best to avoid a collision, but if you make it hard for me, then there isn't any love lost on my part. All parties need to be aware.

Ok, that's what I thought you meant, and I TOTALLY disagree. No one DESERVES to be injured.

sorry you feel that way. When some fool jumps in front, which inevitably causes my stroller to jerk to a stop and the kids lurch forward and smack their heads, especially the one on the back of the sit and stand, then yes. the fool deserved any injury. My kids or their ankle? My kids win.

Lack of deer hops in front of a stroller would prevent many injuries.
Lack of non-paying attention strollers would prevent many injuries.

So if someone walks, do not jump infront, but simply walks and rear ended by someone who does not pay attention or does not keep a distance and as a result, person lands on a stroller, does the kid inside the stroller deserves to get hurt? Sorry, but no matter who is at fault, nobody deserves to get hurt and nobody wins.

No, you're wrong. I can never imagine that anyone deserves it.

Yup!!

Here my vent...

I hate when the person who has just stepped in front of my stroller trying to hurry their way around it and end up getting their foot caught in the wheel turns around and glares at me  That kind of person never seems to realize that it they just wait a second or to, they could probably easily pass once my stoller has cleared that path. My stroller represents a person...a person who has every right to be in whatever space she's occupying at that moment. If someone was to step in front of me in the same manner as they do the stroller, they'd be on the ground. I resent that its always supposed to be my fault that they get their foot caught/ran over. Interstingly enough, I don't notice this same mentality when the path being darted across is a wheelchair or scooter.

Don't get me wrong..I'm not saying it's always their fault, sometimes when its very crowded its unavoidable - but a majority of the time, my stoller contact is because someone is cutting/darting right in front of it.

ok, so let's say i'm exiting the park after the fireworks with my stroller. A person cuts in front of me because i'm keeping a "safe distance" away from other people and they see a little bit of real estate they can scoot into. But because I'm keeping said "safe distance" miraculously I'm able to stop before ramming into said jumper, however because of my awesome reflexes the person behind me (without stroller) doesn't stop quick enough and bumps into me, which in turn throttles me and said '"death machine with wheels" into the jumper, who then turns around to give me and my stroller "the glare"...should i prepare to have my "stroller license" revoked??? ;)

On a serious note, OP i'm very sorry that you were injured and hope you are feeling better!
We all need to be a little more understanding that sometimes people will stop abruptly or that a stroller might occasionally bump into a person. As long as the offending party offers a sincere apology we should move on with our day and enjoy our magical vacations.

I can't believe I read this whole thread.....OP so sorry you got hurt..yes that hurts like a you know what. I think the only thing that hurts worse is to be hit in the ankle with a metal shopping cart. I remember my boys doing that by accident and bringing me to tears as it ripped the skin off my ankles.
This thread made me laugh because of the intensity it had..really? over strollers and slow walkers/sidewalk stoppers?
Unfortunately when you are at Disney everyone is in their own world and not always aware of their surroundings. I dont think people walk or stop purposely in front of strollers and I doubt most people hit others' ankles with their strollers, unless you think they "deserve injury" ...sorry but to wish injury on someone because they deserve it is kind of sick and sad.
Strollers are tricky to maneuver in crowds and people love to stare at things at Disney. THE TWO MUST TRY TO COEXIST, lol......
as for the scooters? good luck....I practically jump away from them. Ive seen way too many turn them on and then just GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I dont think they know how to stop them,lol...they know how to back up....violently,lol....
Sorry I digress..
Play nice.......;)

My feeling is if I hit you in the back of the ankle on the achilles tendon either I wasn't looking where I was going/misjudged the weird sized Disney stroller, or you were walking then just stopped short. Fault goes either way.

BUT...if I hit you on the side of your ankle, right on the ankle bone, chances are you stepped right in my path trying to cross or get ahead of my stroller and sorry, your bad. You could have waited 2 seconds for me to pass because I'm watching where I'm going, not watching out for people coming from both sides trying to run in of me. It's Disney theme park walking, not a game of Frogger!
