Hi All,

We are planning a trip to Disneyland with my 3 year old nephew in September.

We will be travelling from Australia so we don't really want to take our own stroller with us.

I was wondering what are the rented strollers like at Disneyland or even better does anyone have a photo of one of them? Alternatively, do you think it is more worthwhile to purchase one from Walmart etc when we arrive?

Thanks so muchf or your help!

Personally, I would purchase a cheap one at Walmart. That way you could use it going to and from the park, etc. Plus depending on the number of days you would be renting one, you would probably save money by just buying one to begin with. Just my opinion.....

How long will you be staying? I might look into renting a stroller. I know that is a bigger business at WDW, but I know there is some place in orange county that will rent. Don't know what will be most cost effective and easiest for you!

Do you have a "nicer" umbrella stroller for him. If so they're easy enough to gate check for your flight(s) and if you change flights it'll be there when you step off the plane to get to your next flight. I prefer to gate check DD's stroller ~ what if it got lost or damaged with check luggage?!? It might be worth bringing what you have from home ~ a cheap stroller is no fun to push for extended periods of time ~ they look like strollers for dolls that children would push, super short handles ~ DD's Disney stroller is a Mac Volo.

If you are not staying close to DL, it would be nice to have one that you could use to walk to and from the park (as stated by previous posters). But if you were to buy an umbrella stroller, you wouldn't have use of a storage basket beneath the stroller - something we really miss now that our kids are too old for strollers. It was really nice to have to store water, sweatshirts, and other non-valuable stuff. The ones you rent at DL have a nice storage basket, are comfortable, and push easily. A cheap umbrella stroller might be harder to push if you are taller.

I like the idea someone above proposed of trying to rent one from a rental company.....that way you would have a storage basket, could take it to and from the resort, and it might be taller than an umbrella stroller.

Whatever you decide, have a wonderful trip. I'm sure your 3 year old will have a BLAST!!!

Depending on how many days and where you are staying I'd be inclined to purchase one.

I assume you're flying out from SYD where we can't really gate-check (not sure about BNE or MEL.)

I agree that the super cheapy umbrella strollers might be hard to use but I've seen lots of "fancy" umbrella strollers around recently. By "fancy", i just mean better than those ones that look like doll strollers. I think you could probably get a decent one for around $50? I haven't really looked at prices recently so not sure on exact price.

The rental strollers at DLR are nice, imo, but you might want to have your own stroller to go back to the hotel with and renting every day would probably also be more expensive.

How much are the rental strollers per day? We may end up needing to buy one instead.

We gate-checked our stroller from Melbourne (and again on the way home from LA) and it REALLY helped to have it at the airport for our 3YO. I didn't have to worry about holding onto her in huge crowds/carrying her when she fell asleep from sheer exhaustion.

Another option is to go to Target on Harbor Blvd/Walmart and grab a cheap umbrella stroller when you get there.

I think it's $12. Someone else can confirm that. You get it half price with a disney visa.

I believe they are up to $14 or $15.

You could probably buy a cheap one at Target which is close by the park. Or order one online somewhere and have it delivered to your hotel.

what do they look like? I have two very tall preschool/K kids and umbrella strollers are too "short." I'm not positive we will want/need a stroller though.

Thanks so much for to everyone for their great replies. They have helped heaps.

I like the idea of renting a stroller from an outside company than Disneyland. I have emailed a place called Travel Baabes to see if they deliver to where we are staying Anaheim (HoJo). Has anybody had any experience with them?

They are jogging stroller types with a small basket underneath. My DD8 can actually still squeeze herself into them and she is 51 inches. She had a leg cramp one day and she was resting in one for a little while.
