i asked previously about renting, i have a daughter 6.5, i asked what the weight is and was told 65lbs??
well shes a big girl,, very tall could be taken for a 9 year old and heavier 78lbs
would she still fit??
i saw ones at WDW web and they looked ok
could i rent a wheelchair for her??
i only plan on doing this one day, the day we stay up late for F!!
what do you think
vicky

My first thought is that she might be too tall for the strollers. My DD is 7 and when we were there a few months back she sat in one while we ate lunch. She was pretty big for it. She is about 50 inches tall and 58 pounds.

The last time we went my odd was 7.5, 52" tall, and weighed 75lbs. It was a snug fit, but she fit. Also she was tall enough the her head rested on the canopy when folded. We never used it so I don't know if she'd been too tall for it that way.

HTH!

My 8 year old cousin reverted to his toddler days and hijacked one of our strollers, even fell asleep in it. I'm not sure what to say about his height and weight, but he's bigger than the standard passenger intended for the stroller. He's probably about average size for an 8 year old, nothing different or unusual about him. Probably does weigh less than 78 pounds. I believe we were able to open the canopy without it bothering him.

This is from our trip in July of this year:

Unless your daughter is disabled in some way, a six and a half year old should be walking.

From what I remember the strollers are pretty generously sized. If you are only planning to use it for small increments of time then it should be fine. I wouldn't recommend a wheelchair, just my opinion.

after spending 12 hours in a park, i think a 6 year old would be TIRED hence my??? and a ONE time thing ONLY. thanks for you comment Malestorm

I replied to your previous post, my kids are both average to slim for their ages, so we didn't have any problems with them fitting comfortably when we used the strollers (from ages 4-7 respectively). I am not sure if your daughter would be comfortable in the stroller if she is that tall, etc.

I would not recommend getting her a wheelchair (I don't think you could without a doctors note anyway). I think that would be abusing the system since their intended use is for disabled people only (not tired children!). At 6.5 years old, the other poster is right, she probably wont really NEED to use a stroller, especially if you take enough breaks during the day. If she gets tired, find a nice bench, buy some mickey ice cream treats and people-watch for awhile! :thumbsup2 Or hop on the train and ride it around the park (its actually really cool, most people dont realize there is another "park" behind the scenes that you can ONLY see from the train!)

Another tip, on your longest F! day, head back to the hotel for naps from 1pm-3pm. You'll avoid the longest lines, the biggest crowds, and the hottest sun and give DD (and you and the hubs) a chance to rest up for the late night. We did that every single day when we went with our kids. Its really no biggie. You'd only be able to ride 2, maybe 3 rides in that time anyway if you stayed in the park.

Best case scenario, you go check out the strollers the morning of and try one out and it works! Worst case, it doesnt- but I don't think it'll be a huge problem for her. Just make sure she wears some comfy shoes, stays hydrated and eats "healthy" as possible and take lots of breaks.

Greenmustang : Do whatever you think will be best for your daughter ~ well with the exception of renting a wheelchair. My mother has multiple sclerosis and attends the park as a disabled guest, does become frustrating when you see so many guests that really do seem fine and healthy yet are riding in a rented wheelchair. Of course not all disabilities stand out but there's a lot of questionable guests in chairs.

Anyway, if a stroller will help make your daughter's visit and your visit better and more enjoyable, then do it no matter how silly, lazy, or out of place it may seem to others. I don't know what "F" is referring to, sounds like it may be Friday? Anyway, even if she can't last until late into the night, at least you and the rest of the party will be able to enjoy the night time stuff like fireworks and Fantasmic while your daughter has a place to rest or sleep. A stroller is also great for lugging bags and stuff around when not in use.

You know your daughter and her needs better than us, have a look at the strollers in person 1st before deciding to rent one.

Not sure about the DL strollers, can only speak for the WDW ones, but my 7 yr. old very tall son (4'6", 70 lbs.) fit (but barely) late one night when we had been at the park from early entry to after fireworks. Poor fellow was wiped out, and I let him crawl in for the long walk back to the main gate. Dh carried the much smaller younger sibling.

Hope this helps!

I've seen adults sitting in the strollers; the strollers are quite sturdy.

I don't think she should rent a wheelchair either, but...you PAY for them, you do NOT need any sort of doctor's note, and just sitting in a wheelchair isn't abusing a system; there's no system to abuse, just using one to get from point A to point B.

But I think it would just be better to rent a stroller, if she's that tired, than a wheelchair.

All that said...if you think she's going to be that tired, BRING a stroller. Why? Because just when you're approaching the really really tired part, when you're getting back to hotel or car...that's when you have to leave the rented stroller behind. At least inside of Disneyland/DCA you've got fun stuff to look at. But leaving is leaving, and that's when the whining can really start, LOL. And you surely don't want to have to carry at 6 year old back to hotel or car...

You're right, and yes you are right about not requiring a Doctor's note or proof that you are in need. But yes, I will revise my previous comment to say if the wheelchair would be used to travel from Point A to Point B only - and not used to by-pass an attraction ride line, then that would be a little better. But still wheelchairs are generally used for people who have some sort of disability and can't do much walking for most of the day.

But I would stick with a stroller, might even be less expensive to rent, not sure how much wheelchairs are.
