Are there strollers available for rent at AKV? We are spending the week prior to Christmas there and our 2 year old nephew will be needing one. We'd rather rent than haul from home. Also, do the strollers, if available, have baskets and cup holders?

Nope. Only at the parks and DTD. The Disney strollers are really quite nice...but expensive and not available at resorts.

There are independent stroller rental companies in the Orlando area. Try a Google search.

Having done all of the combinations myself (brought from home, rent from Disney, rent from 3rd party), I would either bring one from home or just use Disney's strollers. There isn't much need for a stroller at the resort. You can either carry the little guy or just let him toddle around on his own. And you have to load/unload and fold up the stroller for any bus trips.

For a resort like BCV or BWV that involves walking to theme parks, I'd place a higher value on having a stroller at the resort. But when you rely on bus transportation, it really isn't necessary. Just my two cents....

They usually sell strollers at the gift shops as well. They are rather cute, too.

I have seen them and they appear to be durable. I saw some pretty big kids in them and they were pretty darn reasonable since it cost 25 bucks to rent a day. I want to say they were around 50 but I really didn't look at the price since i haul my own tank with me for the storage.

I'd bring my own. As other posters said, rentals are only available in the parks and at DTD. But a stroller is most helpful just *outside* the gates when you're leaving late in the evening and the little one is conked out, or when you're all worn out and you're facing that lengthy hike down the BWV hallways and you can barely walk yourself, let alone carry a sleeping 2-year-old.

Just my 2 cents. :)

Also with staying at AKV if you plan on hiking back and forth between Jambo and Kidani for swimming, dining, or shopping reasons, you'll probably also want a stroller. I would also suggest stopping by Walmart and grabbing a cheapy and then just leave it there when you head home. The ones Disney sells are cheapy in quality, but not in price! I have seen many of them ditched because the wheels bend.

I would bring a stroller.

We left our stroller at home for our DD (3 at the time) and were staying at BCV. The rented the first day however noticed the red strollers when returning it. We were really concened about the resort without one! The stroller Disney sells is an umbrella stroller which is nice and compact however sells for about $50. You can buy an equal quality one with better storage for less. Now when we go to Disney we always bring that one because it is light and easy to fold with the buses, however I wish there was more storage.

If you have a stroller that is big and clunky, consider buying a smaller one however makes sure you have one. It’s not that much work to bring and that way you have it if needed.
