has anyone bought or used the strollers they sell at the theme parks and resorts? I know they are kolkraft but I would like to know what they are like. I am thinking of buying them istead of renting to save money but I'm not sure if it will hold my 50 lb 6 year old any comments or thoughts would be appreciated!!!

We bought the stroller last year when we realized the price difference with renting. I am still using the stroller. I bought it for a 4 year old who is above average height and weight. It pushes easy, has tall handles for a light weight stroller. It has one small detachable bag and cup holder. The sun guard is very small. Overall it was about half the price of renting and we had the stroller for the resorts, Down town Disney, and the wait for trasportation. Well worth it.

Hi
We're thinking of buying a Mcclaren stroller from www.babye-store.com. They're $74.99 with free shipping and they hold a 50 or 55 lb. child. It would cost us more to rent one for the week.

thank you for the info...This is a huge help in my decision making!!

I bought the Maclaren Volo on ebay for $42 + shipping. I've used it at soccer games etc too. I've no complaints about it.

We took a Volo for DGS age 1 and bought a Kolkraft at Pop for DGD age 3.5. Although the Volo maneuvered a lot better, we (all who pushed DGD) agreed that the Kolkraft was a VERY good value for the money (sunshade, cup holder) and we were glad we bought it.

We bought one for my 4 year old niece last September. I think it would be practically useless for a 50 lb 6 year old. My niece was probably about 42 inches and 40 lbs and she was pushing the limits of the thing. She couldn't really relax her head back because her head was higher than the back of the stroller and her feet kept hitting the ground and wheels. It served it's purpose for the 4 days we needed it for a just-turned-4 year old, but I don't think it would work for a much bigger kid.

You can kinda get an idea for how she fits in it in this picture. I don't have any thing that shows her in it any better. You can tell how far her head is over the seat and how she's shoulder to shoulder across the width of the stroller.

(In the pic, my son's in a 4 1/2 year old Maclaren Techno that he's had since birth, by the way. It's just about to be retired. It's had a hard life. LOL. Just needs to make it through this next Disney trip.)

Thank you for posting with a pic Manda! I had planned to buy DD that stroller in the park on the first day but will now look elsewhere. She just turned 5 but is tall (55 inches and 54 pounds). I checked out that Macalaren Volo that is on sale from babyestore.com but it doesn't give weight limits. Aside from this trip she won't use a stroller for anything else as we always take a wagon to local zoos/parks. I have no clue what to do, I just know she isn't going to be able to walk around for 7 days at our pace.

does anyone know of a good lite strollet for a 60lb kid he will need a stroller for disney only as he wont use one anyother time but weight limits on most strollers only go up to 55lb or so. Thanks for all the info and especially the pics!! they really showed me that my son is too big and would be unconfy!

The Maclaren Techno XLR holds a child up to 65lbs. but they're pricey. We have a 3 year old Quest that has been all over creation with us and has held up very well.

I like the Maclarens as they're light and sturdy and have such high max weights so you get your money's worth over the years.

ETA - If you want a cheaper one just for Disney, any of the Maclarens would really work. I can see how an extra 5lbs or so would risk damaging the stroller in the long term, but the things are sturdy and I'd bet it would be just fine for a week or two at Disney. You can test drive a Maclaren Volo (cheapest) or Quest at Babies R Us as they usually have demo models in stock.

My husband pushed my 56 plus son for a whole week in a Maclaren -- so glad we brought it (it fit in my car seat carrier bag so i checked it). I, on the other hand, had the luxury of pushing my 17 lb baby in my new BOB stroller, which can be pushed with one finger (which he could fit in and easily be pushed it, but he refused). I thought pushing the Maclaren was kind of hard, especially compared to the BOB or the disney park stroller. I would borrow a Maclaren if you can or buy one-the rentals are steeply priced and once you leave the park, if they are tired, then they have to walk.
