Strollers...I need to get this off my chest

I thought the OP was being funny. Heck, I'm in on one of those "stroller" threads and I still was laughing!! :lmao:

THere's a handy dandy little button just up to your right called "Search". It even works! What people are saying is that it really, really clutters up the boards when people ask the same question ad nauseum without bothering to do a search. It makes the boards a lot less fun and a lot more tedious when people are too lazy to spend 5 minutes searching for keywords like "stroller rental". That's all....

The search function has never worked reliably for me - is it the user??
:rolleyes1

WOW! Man, people are so easily offended. I thought the OP was HILARIOUS and agree totally. Who new a stroller could be such a huge decision. And if I am going to spend 500 bucks it is going to be to upgrade out of the value resorts not on a stroller.

Wow, last time I checked, this was a bulletin board called "Disney Trip Planning Forums / Disney for Families" -- a glorified description of an Online Place to Ask Questions.

Having only been reading here for about two weeks, intermittently, I find this really condescending. I'm quite sure that was your point.

As a mother of twins, buying a double stroller can cost upwards of $500. And if it will only be used for one week-long trip, surely you can understand why that's more than just a feeble purchase....

....the only time that I will EVER buy a stroller again is for a baby shower gift or for a grandchild (which BETTER had be in a LONG, LONG time!!). Soooo, my question is THIS: why would someone buy a stroller for JUST A VACATION??? Wouldn't you use it before and after said vaca - regardless of price?? :confused3 This in not intended to be mean-spirited; I'm just curious....

..... I think that I may have solved the dilemma of the purchase vs. rent a stroller....wait until your 'lil ones are old enough to walk around the parks ON THEIR OWN!!! ( say, by age, ummmmmm, 12 or 13........)

[...this is the part of my post where I'm s'posed to let you know that this post was tongue-in-cheek and NOT to be taken seriously...] ;) popcorn::

Seriously, can't we veterans vetch about the endless posts and the newbie mistakes every now and then? I'm not going to be politically correct and extra sensitive to newbie errors. I went through newbie hazing, I made it! :wizard:

Does kindness exist anymore????? Do we really need newbie hazing can't there just be positivity on these boards? It is so much easier to say something nice then something negative even if it was meant to be funny.

So, um, in other words, my husband is not allowed IN the stroller? Has anyone tried it and do you have any suggestions? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: .

How many will agree that this whole big Dis board is a clique. We all love Disney and we are very accepting of everyone. Why not post a parody once in a while? I thought it was very funny. I think it was obvious that it was meant to be taken lightly and can be applied to any and all of OUR many obsessions. We all proudly admit to being Mouse obsessed over planners. We LOVE it and wouldn't have it any other way.

IT'S ONLY A STROLLER!

Go to the store and try it out. If your kid fits in it and you can comfortably push it, buy it. If not, buy something else. If you're tall, buy one with longer handles. If you're short, buy a smaller one.

Yes, double joggers will fit on the buses, in the stores, and through the gates. And yes, the people sitting around you on whose toes you have parked will not be happy with you.

Yes, the Mac is the most popular one here. If you ask "which stroller..." followed by almost anything, Maclaren something or other be the answer, so just go to their website and pick one. They hold bigger kids, so your 6 year old will probably fit in it. Your college freshman will not. There has to be an age cutoff somewhere. Ebay is the cheapest place to buy them, and no, the rest of the world will not care if you have an '06 or '07 model.

Yes, the rental strollers are expensive. The doubles are doubly expensive. If they are too much for you, bring your own and don't rent one.

Yes, most airlines will let you gate check a stroller and have it not count as the dreaded $25.00 extra bag. Check with the airline to see if yours is the exception. Most people gate check without issue. Some people have issues. There are no guarantees in life, especially from airlines.

On any given day, this board is filled with stroller questions. Seriously people, this is not a complicated real estate purchase, you are not commiting for a lifetime, it's not going to be physically attached to you forever.

IT'S ONLY A STROLLER!

Oh my gosh! That is so funny. I felt the same way about all the Crocs threads!

I gotta admit...the original post made me feel a tiny bit offended :confused3

I am no newbie and to be honest, I never experienced any hazing nor would I consider doing that to others. I am not at all a political correctness nut by any means (my values are far far far from it :rotfl2: ) but you must understand...there are many of us out there...it's like searching for the holy grail...we are all in search of the perfect stroller. To me it doesn't exist, but it has definitely become a hobby of mine (pathetic, yes, but nonetheless a great interest of mine).

I know the original post was meant to be funny, but for those in search of the holy grail...we "no think so" (again, I said I was not a fan of political correctness)...

PS - I think the search function is worthless

PPS - I have probably way too many stroller posts to mention

PPSS - I now have a Mac, but also house a Peg Aria, Combi, 2 Evenflo's, and 2 cheapie TRU umbrella strollers (although the umbrella strollers were free so do they really count????)...dare I say, I LOVE to comment on them all...they're almost like my children...

PPPSS - maybe the solution is a separate bulletin board for strollers, or a separate folder within a bulletin board like the 'DDP' folder or 'in search of codes' folders...:confused3

Or....

Maybe the solution is to laugh at ourselves like you seem to be able to do quite well by admitting right here that it is an obsession. I think that the OP realizes that the threads will, and should, continue and is just pokin' a little fun at them. No anger, no malice, just fun. Sort of like they did about the duct tape after Y2K when we all ran out and purchased plastic and duct tape and now have to find creative ways to use it.....:rotfl2: We all instantly become "One of Those Mothers" and get swept into a frenzy about things that later we realize were not that important. WE ALL DO............ I think she took the opportunity to laugh at it now and some are not at the look back and laugh stage yet. She really is a kind poster and doesn't post mean things. :flower3: :grouphug:

I don't post on the family board much...but I do read quite a bit.

Chalk up one more for "laughed out loud" when I read it.....but then, maybe it's because I didn't take it at ALL seriously.

If you have a child, say 3 years old and up, that never uses the stroller at home anymore for malls, etc. and you know they will need one for Disney you entertain the thought of purchasing one instead of renting. Especially with the huge price hikes on the rentals. I would much rather buy one and be able to sell it later, than to rent one at the parks and just be out the money. Honestly, you can buy a stroller cheaper than renting one for most trips. People just want to make sure they get the best stroller for their situation, hence the questions. You never know, I thought I had bought my last stroller years ago too. I have kids 18, 13 and 9. We just bought a new stroller 7 months ago for our newest baby (dd7mos)!!!!
The Macs seem to last forever so maybe Ill save it for my first Grandbaby- I could have one in 4 or 5 years and we should be finished with our Quest! LOL!!

We did....

We have a double umbrella that we use for the two littlest ones. But DD5 hasn't needed a stroller in a couple years, and we didn't have a "single" anymore (the last one was a "garage casualty"). So we went out and bought a relatively cheap, sturdy (good weight limit, but DD5 is a tall string bean anyway) umbrella JUST for our January trip. We spent less than 1/2 what it would have taken to rent one at WDW. It was a life saver because, while she walked a LOT, there were times when she just couldn't walk anymore and needed to rest her little legs. This was great because we could keep moving and she could get rest.

So, yeah..there are times when it actually makes sense to buy a stoller JUST for a trip.

.....never mind THAT.....I'm interested in the 'garage casualty' story.....popcorn:: [ ;) ]

Maybe now you realize that it wasn't that funny. You don't have to be nasty to people just because they're new and not in the "clique". You could have posted a gentle reminder about the search function (which RARELY works well).
People are excited to be planning their trip. Yes, people ask the same question 3 billion times. So skip the stroller posts if they bug you so badly.
Posts like these don't make us newbs want to stay around and be abused.

Sorry, but thought it was funny. :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

As other posters have stated, once you read the same questions 1000 times, it like gees people its not rocket science.

I stated the same thing on the post where people were whining about the increased cost of rental strollers. You have 2 options, bring your own or pay the increaed cost and rent. Again not rocket science. :confused3

While I think this post was a bit on the mean-spirited side, I see the humor, too. Admittedly, I posted a stroller question on here a few months ago. I wanted a jogger for everyday use, but also wanted to know if it was a good choice for a Disney vacation. Stroller questions should be expected on the family board...but maybe we should check 2 or 3 pages back to make sure our particular question hasn't already been answered.

BTW...I don't get why everyone loves Macs... my BOB Revolution is the deal! :snooty:

....I'm not sure if this was meant to be funny or not, but it DID make me giggle a bit.....:rotfl:

[ :confused3 SORRY! :teeth: ]

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 I was serious!!!!!!!! I just found out I was pregnant and we are starting to look at baby items - I was going to ask some opinions on everyday strollers (not disney one's) but I take it that would be something not to do.... :confused3 :confused3 :confused3
