Strollers for child over 100 lbs

anyone know of a place to rent a true stroller for a child who weighs 111 lbs? We don't want a wheelchair as he hates those and there is no cover... We can find them for children up to 100 lbs but have not found one for him

I'm sure there is an option, but if you run into problems just know that we had my 100+ lb son in a Disney single stroller last year and he was ok. A double would have worked great.

There are special needs strollers that have some features of strollers and some of wheelchairs. you can get one with a Sun canopy. We use a convaid, it's a common model. You can rent them, although I'm not sure where

Care Medical (www.caremedicalequipment.com) is a featured vendor who lists "special needs strollers" among their offerings, but they do not indicate model so not sure if what they have. I believe it may be an Otto Bock (it was several years ago when I inquired), which has a max weight of 110 lbs.

I can't vouch for them, but Orlando Medical Rentals (www.orandomedicalrentals.com) lists a few options of strollers for kids over 100 lbs. Earlier this week another DISer posted a positive experience with this company. I don't know what equipment that person rented.

I'd say medical supply companies are more likely to have what you need versus a stroller rental or even ECV rental business. You may also want to look into whether your medical insurance would cover purchasing a special needs stroller if your son may need one for other trips.

We did end up using the Disney double strollers last year when we went and it worked for the trip however he is a little tall for them and was so scrutched up...was hoping for a better option this year. Typically he wouldn't need on but his legs seemed to really bother him after a few days last year and we never figured out why so wanted to be a little better prepared this trip.
I will definelty look into the other 2 options! Thanks so much

Just looked and orlando medical has 2 different styles we can pick from and one is for 110 lbs and the other 200 lbs!
