Hopefully this October, we will be able to fly to Disney World. This will be our first time to fly. We are hoping to fly Southwest. We have a four and 1 year old. So, we will be needing two strollers and 1 car seat. Will we be able to check them at the airport? Thanks for all your input!!!

We usually check the car seat at the check-in counter. We then keep our stroller to push our kid in all the way to the jetway. After we're told we can board, we roll the stroller all the way to the end of the jetway, then fold it up, and they will then stow it for you. When you arrive at the destination, the stroller will be waiting in the jetway for you, still folded.

We strapped up the stroller and checked it in with the luggage last year on American Airlines. We plan on doing the same thing next week when we go to Disney on Song. We didn't bring a car seat.
Good Luck,
Joe

You have to fill out some minor paperwork for this at the gate, before the actual boarding time. The stroller will be tagged as "gate checked" baggage and you will get a receipt. If you simply roll it down the jetway without having done the paperwork, you'll have to do it at that point, which would be disruptive to your own boarding the plane.

Gate checking a stroller is very simple, almost effortless. No matter where you are flying from, if you're flying directly to Orlando you will surely not be the only family gate checking a stroller on that flight.

When you check your luggage, you can check your car seat if you do not want to use it on the plane. If you didn't buy a seat for your 1yr old, you could tote the car seat to the plane and see if there is an empty seat next to you to use it and then check it at that point if there isn't. It depends on if you know it is a full flight to begin with whether you'd want to do that. If you check the car seat at the gate it usually goes to baggage claim, unlike the strollers which will come up onto the jetway at your arrival gate. If you check the car seat with your luggage, they will usually have a clear plastic bag to put it in so it doesn't get that banged up.
