I have read that it can rain in Florida at any time. So, if you have a stroller do you cover it every time you leave it which seems like it would be a pain or do you take your chances? What do you use to cover it. Have you ever got stuck with a soaked stroller?

We had our own double stroller with us & it rained one afternoon, so we bought an adult rain poncho ($5?) & used it to keep the stroller dry (even with the kids IN it). I bet a child size would fit a single stroller, but don't know for sure. I've heard that you can buy similar rain ponchos at sporting goods stores for much less than at WDW (but it woudn't have a Mickey on it!)

It can rain suddenly in FL, but usually you'll see it coming for a little while. If it looks like rain, I just cover my stroller. I got one of those clear plastic stroller covers from Toys R Us. My Maclaren stroller came with one. I June (early) we only used the Mac one once and the other one not at all. I think we left just before the floods!

Hi
I bought a clear shower curtain liner and it fit perfectly over my double stroller. I would imagine you could trim it to fit a single. I also bring metal binder clips to clip it around the bottom so it doesn't whip around in the wind. If you get the crystal clear kind, the kids can see through it. If I had a single stroller I would definately invest in a rain cover from toys r us. I haven't been able to find a ready-made double cover.

Hi
I got my rain covers from one step ahead(.com). They didn't have jogging ones at the time so I got an xl reg and it fits. They now have jogging ones and I think I saw a double in the last catalog. I'm bringing mine for both joggers so much easier than an umbrella. I've been known to put it on in the am at the parks around here and just roll it up onto the hanlde then I'm not fumbling around for it and the umbrella for me. Just check for ventalation some are better than others.

Tiggereyore, I noticed you said you plan to take your jogging strollers, but a recent thread about this stated that they have been officially banned at all parks. Stroller chat generated a lot of strong opinions, so the thread was closed; I don't know if it is still available for viewing. You might want to contact WDW before you go so you don't drag them all the way there, only to be turned away at the gate. (As I understand it, it's only the jogging strollers with the big front wheels that are banned. Thankfully, regular strollers are still allowed!)

We were there the end of June for 9 days and it rained every single day!!!! Luckily, we bought the clear plastic stroller covers from Toys R Us before we left for about $20. It was the best investment. My 16 month old ds was dry the whole time as was our stroller and everything under it. I highly, I can't stress enough, highly recommend that you stop by Toys R Us or go online and buy one, even if you only use it one day, you will be very happy and you will also be the envy of the park. I think we could of sold that thing for $100 easily......

Good luck and have fun ;)

I haven't been able to find a ready-made double cover.

I just saw a double stroller rain cover yesterday in Burlington Coat Factory's Baby Depot. FYI.

I purchased a stroller cover the first time we went to WDW with dd 2 yrs ago, not a drop of rain that visit but we have been back several times since with the stroller (and our dd of course:))--I have used it many times now. It's one that was purchased at Babies R Us for $12.

During the months between June - October, if we go to WDW then I always put the cover in a Jumbo zip loc and our ponchos in another Jumbo zip loc at the bottom of the stroller bin as well as a small umbrella. I can't tell you how handy they all were this past trip we went on (last week).

We used them almost once a day. The zip locs are great because if they're wet and the sun comes back out you can stuff them back in there and just hang them up when you return to your room.

If we plan to be in an attraction or at a meal for more than an hour or so after 11am and the stroller is out in the open and I see a few clouds I almost always cover it.

We were there in mid-June and it POURED every day, almost all day long. We didn't have stroller cover, but boy, did I wish we did. We used my Dh's poncho to cover the stroller when it looked like the sky was going to open up, but it didn't do much good at all. The winds were so strong that the rain was coming down sideways and the poncho blew off...in fact, one day we came out of Playhouse Disney and our stroller was laying on it's side on the ground (guess that wind was REALLY strong!)

It sounds like a stroller cover is a great investment!

Hope you don't have to use it much when you are there....have fun!

Hi
I just called WDW and they doulbe checked with guest services and thier help desks about this. THEY FOUND THIS TO BE WRONG. Since they have joggers that you rent they would have to by all new strollers themselves. The policy they quoted me was that as long as a stroller folds it can come in the park. Does anyone know where this came from? Was someone turned away at the gate? Can anyone else help.????
Thank you

Hi I read the thread about jogging strollers before it was closed- I think it was on the theme parks board. Anyways the story was a woman had used her jogging stroller in most of the theme parks during her trip with no problem until she went to MGM (I think) and they told her they were not allowed and gave her a free Disney rental stroller to use for the day.

Woobie,
The cover you saw in Baby Depot, was it for side by side doubles or the front and back? Was it expensive? What store in Mass. did you see it in. My sister lives in Boxford maybe she could pick it up for me. I did a search online and found one for side by side doubles but I would rather not worry about it arriving on time. We leave in less than 30 days!
Thanks, Meredith

Fraggle,

Sorry I'm just getting back to you. We just got back from Disney/DCL. I don't remember which type of double cover it was. I thing it was about $15 in the Billerica store. Good luck, and have a blast on your vacation.

We have always brought our own stroller and I agree with everyone that the rain stroller cover is a great thing to have. This trip it will just be my 5yo and I so she won't be using a stroller except for maybe a late night in Epcot or to stay out of the rain. I plan to rent a stroller as needed, probably not at all but... I wonder if anyone has tried the cover on a rental. I think I will bring mine along just in case but if anyone knows for sure it won't fit I will leave it home and just use a clear poncho - TIA

The double stroller covers they have at Burlington Coat Factory are for the front/back doubles. We just got back, rained almost every evening, the rain cover was GREAT!!! My 3 yr. old would tell us it looked like rain and to get the cover on, he loved sitting under it while everyone else was getting wet. I too could have sold it for $$ many times over!
