Hello,
I"m new here so I apologize if this has been discusses already..I'm going to be bringing my daughter who then will be 7yrs old and my son who will be 14 months sometime during my trip to visit in my sister in Orlando between November 4-14 and was considering buying a sit and stand stroller...Has anyone done this with an older child and if so how well did it work? My daughter can be very lazy at times and part of me thinks we might very well need one and then part of me thinks she might be so excited and not even care..The last time I was at Disney was in January 1996 so i didn't have children back then..does anyone have any tips for us??? We are not staying on property since my sister lives less than a hour from WDW and her boyfriend should be working there again at that time so we're getting in ratherly cheaply..If you have any tips or advice to give us I'd really appreciate it. thanks!

There is a 40 pound weight limit for the rear seat on the stroller. At 7 years old I'd be worried the stroller would tip backwards if she was to use it. I'd go to a store that has a Sit and Stand stroller on display so that you could try it out before purchasing it.

I bought a sit n stand for our trip last year (dd-17 months, and ds-6) It worked great. My DS didn't use it very often, but it was great to have. It was so nice to be able to "put" him somewhere for crowds or if we were trying to get somewhere quickly. We'll be taking it again for our trip this year when DS will be 7. Honestly, I don't remember what the weight limit is, but it worked just fine for my son last year, and he was about 55 lbs. I would definetly get one if you can. It's just so nice to have a place for a tired kiddo to sit, and gives you a good peace of mind if you're leaving the parks at night with crowds. You know you "have" everything.

ETA: I bought a babytrend sit n stand- not sure if it makes a difference for the weight.

We have the Joovy Caboose which is very similar to the Sit & Stand. Up until a year ago (kids were 6, 5 & 3 at the time) I would pack all 3 onto the stroller to be able to quickly move about and never had issues with the stroller tipping backwards. I would have my youngest up front, my oldest sitting on the "bench" with his knees apart and my middle guy would stand on the back deck between my oldest ds's knees. The biggest issue we found with the sit and stand types of strollers is the kids heads are back to back and if the front child is tall and over the top of the seat they may bump or just annoy one another (intentionally :rolleyes1).

I think if you feel you need the stroller I would go for it. We're going in Feb (kids will be 8, 6, and turn 5 while there) and are planning on bringing our Joovy. Chances are we won't need it, but I would hate to NEED it and not have it available. If anything it can carry our stuff and serve as a home base.

yes we have went to a local store and sat my oldest in a sit and stand and it seemed to work very well..i don't plan on her being it in very long just for rest periods if she gets tired..thanks for the advice everyone..like pp said it's better to have one if we need it..i'm also looking into stroller swaps..has anyone used these before?
