I know that I need something like an umbrella stroller--but what brand would you recommend> I will be taking my 8 mth old at the time, plus my other 2 kids. Was looking at the Combi Soho, but I think I have talked myself out of it. Tell what you like and don't like.
TIA

I have a Silver Cross, which I love. It folds up nicely, has a shoulder strap and is about 9 lbs. The downfall for you is that it does not recline and your 8 month old probably needs something that reclines. The Maclaren is very similar to the Silver Cross, and some od them recline.

I don't have an opinion on specific strollers, but I will say this...

TRY IT OUT IN THE STORE BEFORE YOU BUY! Really! And walk like you would really walk for a longer distance. I made the mistake of "test driving" the stroller but just walking behind it like I would shopping. When I got out in the real world with it, I found my stride was too long (and I'm ONLY 5'4"!) and I kept kicking the wheels.

Make sure the handles are tall enough for everyone who will be pushing it. Again, only 5'4" here - 90% of the umbrella strollers out there are too short for me - I can't imagine a 6'+ man having to push it!
A decent taller umbrella stroller is the Baby Trend TrendSport (from Babies R Us). It has padded handles - turns fine - has a reclining seat - it is sturdy - BUT this is the one that we had the problems with the stride. Try it! If it works for you, super! Everyone is different! It's comparable to the really high $ MacLaren but at a fraction of the cost. (around $60 vs over $200!)

We are just going to suck it up and take our Evenflo Travel System stroller. We know DS is comfortable in it. We know it's comfortable for both of us to push. And it has tons of neat pockets to stuff things in (all which can be left filled when it is folded. only the basket would need items removed - so we probably won't use the basket portion)

I don't know of a specific stroller since they change models around so often and I haven't been stroller shopping in a while (DH would KILL me if I added another won to our collection of 6 singles plus a double, lol!)

Anyway, for an 8 month old, I would look for a lightweight stroller, not necessarily an umbrella stroller. I have an older model of the babytrend trendsport which I love for a lightweight, although the newer model seems to not get such good reviews.

Some important features for an 8 month old to look for: reclining, sunshade, tray for snacking, tray for parent, and a decent size basket.

I have a maclaren and LOVE it for my older kids, but I wouldn't put an 8 month old in it for extended periods of time. The downfalls are that it has no tray and a tiny basket and if you hang a bag off the back it tips easily.

If I couldn't find a lightweight stroller that was suitable, I would take a full size. Actually, come to think of it, I took my full size Graco Quattro for my DD who was 9 months old last year because it has an awesome adjustable sun shade and I was worried about her burning in the Florida sun. It was bulky, but she was comfy and I had a nice large basket to put our stuff in.
