Stroller through X-ray machine at airport

So last time the tsa agent shoved our stroller through the X-ray belt and snapped a piece off. . We told him we didn’t think it would fit but he insisted… then was pretty happy to prove us wrong, albeit with the entire top part he clipped off during his shoving, which he didn’t care about and told us it must have been like that already and walked away. Is there a way we can better handle it this time? Perhaps another way we can get our stroller screened without sending it through the belt? We paid to get the piece replaced bc we love the stroller. It’s so great for travel- the only caveat is it doesn’t fit well through security on the conveyor belt. Any suggestions?

I'd firmly but politely tell the next screener that you know it doesn't fit, because a piece broke the last time it was put in the X-Ray. They can visually/physically inspect it in lieu of the x-ray machine. I'm not sure how much time that would take though.

It shouldn't be a problem for them to visually inspect the stroller. Every time we've traveled with ours, that's exactly what has been done, without us even requesting it.

politely ask for the stroller to be inspected visually and have a dated picture on your phone showing the stroller. also be sure to allow plenty of extra time.

Can you take off anything to make it fit better? Send those parts separate through machine.

Using velcro, can you make it fold tighter? Our strollers fold but have some wiggle room.

Just mentioning it as something you might think on in case agent says it has to go through machine.

Ugh thanks!!! I will ask them to do this next time. It must be a big hassle for them because they wanted no part of doing anything but shoving it in there!!! I will definitely try this!
